Damm, novacaine tastes foul

Prof

Recommended Posts

OK, went to the dentist for the last time in my life today :) Sort of glad it's over, but still hate pain. I had hypersensitive teeth. This is where the nerves to the roots do not follow the normal routes, an therefore do not numb when injected in the usual spots.

I had the last of my natural teeth pulled today (9) and had a new set of falsey made. Had the new top in for a day then went to the dentist.

He starts with about a dozen novacaine shots on the outside and the inside, which hurt like a mother trucker.

After he pulled a few of the needles, I had a stream on novacaine coming out the hole into my mouth.

Horrible, horrible taste, a cross / mix between ear wax and the stop bite nail polish.

After my tongue went numb, he starts giving the teeth a push, and 3 out of the nine are still tender, so off with a few more shots of novacaine and a few into the teeth for good measure. Another joyful experience.

Lets me sit and bleed out the many puncture wounds. Have a rinse, and lay back waiting

Starts with the right hand side, first tooth is still tender, almost rip the arms off the chair, then he looks at me, probably grimacing or making one hell of a face, asks if I'm ok, I say it still hurts, so he goes to do a few more shots, I say don't bother, just go for it, next too hurt like hell too, next 4 were pretty tame, just feels weird with someone jerking your jaw about. 2nd last started feeling painful, and the last had an deep abyss under it, that has to be the most excruciating pain I've ever had.

Has been throbbing, but the pain has almost left since I've been typing.

So kiddies, morale of the story is to look after you choppers, Aint worth the pain.

Not the best experience is it Prof but it will be better in the long run. Go here if you need more info on your choppers.

The local anaesthetic does not work effectively when you have infections below the mucosa as it cannot penetrate into the nerves, you should have been on antibiotics alot longer to kill the infection before the extractions.

The hypersensitive teeth story he told you was hog wash, that is actually more to do with the dentine of the tooth exposed that is usually covered by gingiva, in your case I would say you had excessive resorbtion thus the need for false ones.

Nasty stuff.. I haven't seen Marathon man since the 80's and I remember even back then I hated that movie.. Maybe it even gave me my dentist phobia.. I've had capped teeth and wizdoms out when I was very young and nothing like the cracking of your jaw with the dentist putting 1 foot on the side of the chair to get your teeth out to scare the crap out of you..

yep had the same with an abcess....should of been on antibiotics...but he went in hard and fast.

Had another one done last week....was such a difference. New dentist and bloody gentle as...he just swirled the needle around and slowly went deeper, didnt feel a thing. He did tell me its the most drugs hes ever used lol and the longest its taken to get teh needle in. He spent about 3 minutes per injection.

Welp, got the top out when i was 35, that was 17, had a few molars down the bottom removed too under a general in the dentist chair. Scary shit waking up out of that, couldn't move any part of my body for a while, but could see and hear, took about 15 minutes before I could start to communicate to my missus.

40 this year :( , But my dad had his extracted at 18, Mum, 21, my older sister was 32. Other 2 siblings seem to have missed the bad genes.

Had to pull them out this morning (about 3 am) due to the pain from the swelling. Looks like soup and youghart for me for a while :(

Fark man, I'm feeling sorry for ya!

Look into getting some implants done eh. They usually give you a big discount if you're getting a heap done at once.

Most of the cost with implants is setup time, sterilizing, etc so if one costs 5 grand, 8 implants might only cost you 10.

I reckon it'd be worth it though. Better than falsies for the rest of your life.

welp, to top it off, the swelling has gone done, exposing the two teeth at the front he didn't quite get out. Still bits in each, nice raw nerves. Been up since 1.00 am.

Running out of booze. Not throbbing, but thrumming. Back to the dentist tomorrow. Damm pain is intense......

still awake, still trying to stay at the right level of drunkenness to dispel the pain.

tried a bit of self dentistry, couldn't get a hold of the little fucks. Almost desperate enough to go don the pub and see if there's a sadistic person willing to pull the remains out....]
