Theatre of Magic PCB on fire

pinball god

Question

decided to change the batteries and thought they were inserted + - + on a seperate battery pcb. I could smell electrical buring after awhile. Checked the battery pcb marking to find + + + and replaced the batteries accordingly. Notice smoke from the main driver pcb.

here are some pix of the pcb...ooooooops F109 is fried. What can I do or try?

have a look at the fuse I've never seen something like this before. just checked and the fuse isa 5A sb and still reports ok for continuity and connection to J115-4 seems still ok and J120-8 to Q10 is ok

however there appears some shiney heat marks running towards R10, Q11, Q12 but I think this is not causing any problems.

So will resoldering the fuse holder and replace the fuse be a wise move at this moment?

looks like you have a short on one of the GI lines

Thanks Wayne, but I'm a novice here, the GI strings all work, so can there still be a short on the line?

I soldered a wire from F109 and J115-4 and tested BTW. All works but only after a short time (say 5 minutes) the area of F109 was very hot. I suspect if left on for an hour or so I may get the same result as before.

What do you think to do and if its a short how do I test for it or what do I look for?

Thanks
