Flipper wear comes from where

I was discussing with Travis the other week the curse of wear by the flippers, I always thought this was because of poorly adjusted flippers, however he is of the belief its due to rusty balls causing the wear.

This would make some sense as some of the wear you normally see is beyond the arc of the flipper, but why are some games only worn by one flipper?

that is flipper drag wear imo

can happen from poorly adjusted flippers, or when the flipper bushing is cracked - it allows the flipper to move in the bushing, not sitting taught and tight.

mostly happens on route machines, where the bushing has cracked and people play it like that for x amount of weeks/months. the flipper drags over and over causing the damage.

playfield damage from rusted balls would have to appear on areas where the ball is constantly going over the same identical part of the playfield repetitively, e.g on orbits

that was my opinion but some wear is not in the flipper arc.

If the bushing was gone at some stage then the flipper would have a greater arc as the base would be loose. May not be right but would explain why its out of the arc of a 100% working flipper.

I agree to an extent that 'rough' balls can cause an amount of pf wear, but for the ball to follow the same path of descent time and time again so as to create ware in a particular spot seems pretty up their in tin foil hat land..

:unsure

(oohh.. Another acronym: TFHL - Tin Foil Hat Land)
