Joystick Knobs

Hewitson

Question

I was playing Zero Wing last night.. Got up to level 4 without dying once, doing the best I've ever done, and the fucking knob comes off the joystick and makes me die.

So this brings me to my question, how do you guys secure the knobs on your joysticks?

Ba, Dum, Tish.

And for a serious answer. They're just done up tight and the shaft rotates with the top during use, unless you are going to grip the shaft with a pair of pliers it's not coming undone.

The sanwa joysticks I've got have a screw on tops & screwdriver slot in the bottom of the shaft. Use something to keep a good grip on the ball (those rubber thingys for gripping jar lids) and a screwdriver to get it done up tight. You could also put some glue or locktite on the thread depending on how permenant you want it to be.

I know folks who use stuff like Lock Tight or superglue to keep them on there in commercial locations. You could also possibly use plumber's tape I guess.

At home I use all-Sanwa, and as above just tighten it with a screwdriver which keeps them on there steady, even with the kids trying to take them off.
