narf_
Played my first game tonite on my jacks was only a test game to see what niggles i got to sort but its been a good 20 odd years since it was last used. It was a great feeling tonite having a go especially the press of the start button and the "ponk" of the ball popping in the chutem the "boing" of the plunger spring and "clunk of the ball going past the chute gate. i feels really good as this pin was the last of era down here. It was sited in bunbury ,Times had changed and inbetween the incursion of the home console and loss of a major site the business closed. It was left to rot outside with another 90 pins. EMs smashed to bits (was easier that way back in the day), cabinets became shelves for storage. some how this one got put back in the shed legs removed as well the headbox and stored up against a wall hidden from the world. now it lives again. I got that warm fuzzy pin feeling knowing that a EM usually regarded as junk after the world of electronics hit pinballs now stands proud once again anyways its midnight so i better go to bed just thought id share the love im so excited. Being a complete noob and buying a untested as is pin only on visual looks of the outside not knowing what lies beneath and ahead of me im really happy with how im going and for all the help ive got from everyone if you were close by id shout some teds as i got a fridge full and i dont drink :lol

Good on you mate, you took it on and bit the bullet - now youve come out on top. That sense of achievement, knowing that youve pushed yourself into the unknown and here you are on the other side. ...PRICELESS! Now your EM game is up and running, itll run for another 20 - 30 years, few niggles on the way, but if looked after, itll still be here, being played well after the MDF cabinets of todays pins are long forgotten. Once you get into these games and feel the passion for them, just the smell makes you tingle - trust me - its addictive! But well done mate - welcome to the "other side" , ive been following your journey with this and its been fantastic.... EM games rock!

AskJacob
Good stuff mate. I've been following the restore thread all along... thanks for the ride! Those niggles may sort themselves out as those switch contacts get a bit of use and self clean. There is a perfectly good reason to keep on playing! Cheers

narf_
mate you get a oldie with falsies mate pop those out and :lol back on topic. cheers again guys Its alot different playing a EM to a new 90s pin ive discovered. Ems seem to be pinballs in the raw. You hear all the parts doing there job where as new pins music ect hides that. Later mission is to rebuild the chimes for some tunes too the niggles are slowly comming out with game play. i got to adjust the PF at it leans to the right badly got to sort out the 2 yellow lane guides tonite. for some reason the new posts and guides are different to the originals by a few mm so the old switches stick so im just replacing the screws and using acorn nuts on top (im happy with that instead of shorting switches ect) i will get another but wont be till i get a bigger house. the pin is in the shed till i get room. But the local hunt always lives on once the kids are asleep the mrs is in for another quiet night. and i remember reading a topic about the knocker scarying people. your right first time i heard it i was like WTF

narf_
one note i forgot to add the operator was a smart cookie the tilt works well. i gave it the old wack on the flipper to go a long punt and bang game over i wasnt sure if the knocker worked or how to test till now :lol

Strangeways
Shannon - From memory, there are 4 larger posts. These are meant to go under the yellow lane guides. I have seen them under the slings on some machines. I'm confused as to why the switches are sticking ? Post a picture ? If the machine leans to the side - adjust the leg levellers, or just buy a new set ! DMDs and EMs have one thing in common - they use at least one ball and two flippers. That is where the comparison stops for me ;) They both have their place in history, and I enjoy playing and working on both
narf_
hey nino i got it sorted. i suspect the originals were wrong or i misplaced them. The switches seemed to be about 2mm to long so all i did was switch them over to screws with acorn nuts blend in with the plastics so doesnt bother me and i reckon there a pain to install the regular way yeah i will be putting new levellers on too. score reels have sorted them selves out with use too :)
