Jazzman
Hey guys, as I'm a newbie just got a question for some of the experienced arcaders here... Just saw a Rygar PCB on Ebay with a buy it now price of $180. It's a classic piece of nostalgia, but I want to know is it really worth $180? I would definately pay $120... what do you guys think? :unsure
dracer
NORM guy who is selling it knows his shit with PCSs. id pay maybe 80, but in saying that YOU are buying a fully working and checked PCB.

Jazzman
There's another point... how do people feel about arcade emulation? I think it's great being able to play games on MAME but there's no way it compares to owning and playing an original arcade machine. Is there anybody out there who feels the same? Nostalgia lovers??? lol So maybe a PCB is worth it for the fact that you own an original....

Hewitson
$180 is outrageous. Its worth $100 at most, and thats with a JAMMA adaptor.

Just playing devil's advocate for a moment: :077: If someone pays the $180 for that arcade board is it still outrageous? Like I said in another thread, things are worth what people will pay. Is it overpriced and unlikely to sell? Maybe (I have no idea), but if you don't buy it where's the problem? Now, if it was some life saving drug that cost peanuts to make but sold at some crazy high price, that would be outrageous.

I have Rygar running on my 26" MAME setup and it looks tops. I used the arcade monitor with ArcagdeVGA and it is impossible in my opinion to pick it from the original. I went with CGA because I don't like PC monitors in cabs, they don't look right. Think seriously about a MAME cab. Dave

Nostalgia lovers??? lol So maybe a PCB is worth it for the fact that you own an original.... Hmm... that's a tough call. Personally I would love to have a PCB, most prob not the orig as I hear the original pre mame ones can be a dog to work on when they break (and from what I read around the place, they will eventually break down). So for me I would most prob want a bootleg if the bootleg is accurate. God knows, I most prob played bootlegs when I was a kid! That said, I'm building a mame system purely to be used as a multi entertainment device. Reckon I'll eventually get myself a lowboy to be my dedicated beast, so I can eventually buy a selection. Oh I spose if your a neo geo fan then maybe it's not as big a deal, I presume that they're not as problematic as the 25 year old stuff floating around.
