Whitewater problems

acejas

Question

Finally got this baby unpacked and had a session today. What a bloody great game!

Got a few problems that I need some direction.

The "No Way Out" has a VUK (? hope thats what it is). Sometimes it goes to kick out and doesnt have enough grunt and sits back. It only attempts it again once all the kickers have been around 2nd time. Then it will shoot out 2 or 3 balls which obviously spoils game play. Any idea what I should be looking for?

2nd thing is Im missing last vertical line on the DMD. Ive been offered a replacement but was wondering if there is anything I can look at before taking it out. (dont really want to do this as Im enjoying the game.)

Cheers in advance

Jasen

Sounds like the parts are worn out on the kicker or bracket is bent

I would get a replacement display, sounds like a pin type and has a broken pin

Agree with bally, check mechanical operation of kicker first as obviously coil is functioning. Take apart and clean if necesary, check coil sleeve. Check wires/ solder connections at coil.

I have repaired a few dmds with broken pins but they can be fiddley and I havent had the option of swapping one out. See if one can be sent out to you and the faulty returned once installed so that you wont lose valuable playing time:D

Good score, WH20 is still one of my favourites.

Thanks guys

i think the wire cage is misaligned as well as the bracket bent. When I look down I can see the ball not in centre. I will have a fiddle. Great idea about the swap out. Played it like a whore yesterday and was so close to vactaion planner jackpot. This pin is also great for non pinheads and very very challenging for the pinfreak.

When I 1st got my Star Trek the VUK didn't kick up with power either.

Originally I took unit apart and cleaned and that worked better, but for the price, buy a new VUK set and replace. That will make it like new baby.

Great game, one that will definately never leave my collection.

I have bought a few ROMs for John Wart Jnr. The whitewater LH6 only cost $7.50US plus $1 shipping.

He is a great bloke to deal with and obviously not trying to make a profit from selling burnt ROMs.

http://www.thatpinballplace.com/eproms/wpc.html

I Remember a while back when John Wart Jnr was dear as poisen selling roms.

Then Rompingirl came along and he had to drop his pants.

You don't have to buy from me ...i'm not forcing you.

White Water is a 8 meg chip and they are not cheap or easy to get.

Your paying for the cost of the rom and a burning service.

Decent programmers arn't cheap either.....mine cost around $500

If it were only a 4meg chip it would only be $10

mmm profit from selling roms

mmm , I wonder how much you'd be charging.

What are the main features/differences/fixes of the L6-ROM.

This link Skybeaux gave

http://www.wolffysoft.com/webblaze/webblaze.exe?/template+cpmmain.html+/id+cpm%5C411season4.html

Explains plenty. The nerd in me read the details, even though I don't have a Whitewater (but would bloody well love one!)

Cheers

Thanks KTM, I already bought from Skybeaux

Thanks Skybeaux :)

LH-6 does not allow coin mech cos this rom is for home use only. After playing the game for 2 days I really look forward to the changes!!! Unless you have a WH20 and have run L4 or earlier then you really wont comprehend or appreciate the changes but from someone that has read the changes im looking forward to it :)
