Sega Outrun Cabinet

prktkljokr

Question

I picked up a Advanced Amusements sega outrun cabinet today for $150, not in too bad shape and its all pretty much all there, steering is a little sloppy and the vibration dont work, which is not a problem, but the guy tells me that the monitor shuts down every now and then, but he just gives it a whack on the side and it comes back up.

Now whacking this sort of thing will eventally lead to something else failing, Right?

has anyone experienced the same thing and what was the solution?

I had a tv that did that once.Screen would black out but the sound was still there. Kept wacking it and finally I opened it up and soldered all the HV solder joints that I thought may be associated. I don't know which joint it was but it fixed it.

Its the sit down cabinet, the Ferrari, you dont want one of my pics they come out huge in here.

I opened up the back got a peice of dowel and when it went out I gave it a light poke on the chassis, it came straight back on so ill rip it out and attack it with the soldering iron.

My son has been playing it since we got it in the shed and it has only faulted a couple of times in 4 hours

I asked him what he wanted, to be fair and he said $150, now being the nice bloke I am, I wasnt going to argue with him so I handed over the gold.

I think he was bored with it and the screen problem, so he decided to get rid of it, I was just in the right place at the right time I think.

I tell ya what though when he said the price I felt my back pocket catch fire and I couldnt get that wallet out fast enough.

This one may be a earlier version as it dont have a boot or a hood, the cab is all wood with a seat of wood and a wood console down one side which house the coin mechs and the test switches, it does have working tailights and a illuminated marque behind the seat.

Might be the poverty pack Ferrari?

This is where a pic or 2 would help.

Searching around the net I can find....

The upright

Sitdown type 1

Sitdown Type 2 - The F1 version

But I am yet to find the version my bits are off.

I remember there was a cab, when the game first came out, that was a car shape. Like a proper 2 seater with hood and boot. It didnt have a screen in built, it used a 50 inch rear projection screen...and was haudrolic and,and,and... Well, thats what my bits must be off. Hmmm....
