Monitor Sync Query

Recommended Posts

Gday Joey,

I am currently in the midst of some very frustrating sync issues in my cab where I run a PC and a PS2 (all with the appropriate Ultimarc gear). The PC picture is rolling up down (and wont stand still) and the PS2 picture seems off both horizontally and vertically, and no amount of pot twiddling will fix it.

Then I hooked up a SFA CPS2 board, and it ran prefectly fine, looked great. Does this then mean the Chassis/Monitor is fine, and I need to look into my devices for the problem, or can there still be a fault with the chassis that was simple non evident in my testing with a JAMMA board.

All the Ultimarc stuff SHOULD be pretty tried, tested and designed; its not like i've gone and hacked up sync splitters and soldered them dodgily. Any advice?

EDIT: Dont know why I put this in Commercial Section...long night of troubleshooting with no success. Could an op please move it to arcade monitor repairs perhaps? Sorry guys.

This Section is fine mate , after all you have addressed the question to me anyway :)

It does sound like the monitor is fine , but I have seen issue's like this with Nanao and to a lessor extent some others .

Some arcade monitors don't like have the Vertical and Horizontal sync joined together , Try running only the Comp H-Sync from your PC to the chassis , don't connect anything at all to the Vertical Sync input of an arcade chassis , this will always cause problems like you are seeing.

If the chassis is a Kortek make sure the switches near the inputs are switched to Negative .

Hope that helps , I am not familiar with the Ultimarc stuff or how it should be configured but I have heard many times they are very helpful .
