Guest Wotto
Please list some decent Horror films you may have seen - go back as far as you want and maybe some of us will realise there is some movies out there that are decent that we havent seen yet. BAD :cry We have already established that Saw 2 is a shocker. I recently watched Hostel and that also is VERY ordinary ( considering Eli Roth and Tarantino were heavily invlolved ). GOOD :023: Wrong Turn - OK it has a typical story line but has a few decent scare scenes- well worth a look.

Mickey Juice
I didnt mind either Saw2 and Hostel.... Wolf Creek was probably better than both Some of you may hate some of these, plus some are foreign: 28 Days later Dawn of the Dead (both versions) Candyman The fog Halloween Night of the creeps Tenebrae Profondo Rosso (Deep Red) Hellraiser 1-3 Phantasm (The Never Dead) 1-4 Scream Idle Hands Silence of the lambs (there is no such thing as a 'psychological thriller' it's just a horror movie that's made over 100 million at the box office ;)) Zombie Audition Evil Dead 1-3 Re-animator BrainDead Bad Taste The Frighteners Blair Witch project Your vice is a locked door and only i have the key the house with laughing windows Das Experiment Haute Tension Stir of Echoes All I can think of atm! garuda
Night Watch that just came out (it is a Russian horror movie, they are making a Trilogy) is awesome. I agree with Mickey on Stir of Echoes. A very underrated movie.
Mickey Juice
Yeah, the 6th sense took alot if it's thunder. The original The Vanishing is also good (not the remake with Jeff Bridges)
elvis
Night Watch that just came out (it is a Russian horror movie, they are making a Trilogy) is awesome. I dug it. Looking forward to the next two, especially after the cliffhanger. My sister is a huge horror movie fan. She's forced me to sit through so many that I eventually broke down and turned into a horror fan also. For me it's zombie flicks. I just can't get enough of them, no matter how good or bad they are. What about "Shock Waves"? Classic Peter Cushing nazi zombies from late 70's. "Halloween" - the original and the best in my books. Forget the sequels. "Motel Hell" - classic 80's horror flick. Forget the sequels. Halloween is my #1 fav movie (followed by The Shining!). Shockwaves is good too, I remember watching it on Arena's Graveyard shift with Tabitha back in the day. what??? idle hands isn't a freakin horror movie - it was hillarious! plus jessica alba is hot. Mickey Juice
Island of Death would be the worst horror movie I have ever seen. Worst one I've seen is 'Sickle'. Utter shit.
elvis
Undead - Aussie zombie flick. Sheer brilliance mixed with utter crap. I loved it so much I saw it at the cinemas twice. Plus all the special effects and editing were done on two crappy 300MHz PCs owned by the writers/directors (who are brothers). They said any day where their machines crashed less than 5 times each was a good day. :) IMDB link: http://imdb.com/title/tt0339840/ Home made triple barrel shotgun and nudist aliens for the win!!! Oh, and any movie where the lead actor's name is "Mungo" is a winner in my books.
Mickey Juice
Heh, I don't see many people that actually like Undead. I liked it, reviewed it back in the day when it came out. Good how it was independantly financed by the brothers too, no need to get money from Aus Film "'let's do another comedy" Finance corp. Too bad Lions Gate promo'd it like a dark zombie flick in the US... when in fact it's just a low-budget funny zombie flick.
elvis
At the time I was working for a big firm who had a Graphic Designer guy who was as equally into zombie flicks as I was. We roped a whole bunch of staff to come with us one lunch "hour" (hooray for work ethic) and watch Undead. We laughed our arses off while the rest of the group sat there giving us very strange looks. Needless to say any movie we invited the rest of them to from that day forward was turned down. And yes, great to see indi Aussie filmmaking like that hit the bigscreen. The current crop of "Working Dog"-esque tryhard comedies that keep getting pushed out of the great Australian film sausage factory are not doing the industry as a whole any favours I fear. Mickey Juice
Yeah at the start of the film! The rest of the flick is pretty good too. One of the early New Line movies.
RetroBorg
Don't even watch them, I can't stand the genre. I'm the same, I find horror movies too unbelievable to get into them, I need to imagine the events I'm watching to be realistic before I can be scared, I end up just laughing at them. I did give Wolf Creek a go last weekend, I found it to be very believable and quite disturbing to watch, definately one of the better movies of the genre. Super Moderator WOKA Posted April 6, 2006 Super Moderator Share Posted April 6, 2006 saw Wolf Creek also last weekend - couldn't work out what all the fuss was about (reviews etc)..? Slow to start, predictable otherwise.. I did enjoy it though. Years ago I remember a really good B-Grade splatter movie, made in NZ by New Zealanders, can't for the lift of me remember the title, but it was (fark - it just came to me).. I'm pretty sure it was called BAD TASTE... A good B-Grade Splatter movie.. :) W.
Mickey Juice
There are a few classics made by Peter Jackson, Bad Taste was the first... had aliens coming to earth to manufactor humans for fast food "The bastards have landed" his followup was Brain Dead/ Dead Alive with zombies etc (the climax having the main guy with a lawnmower grinding up all the zombies). You also might be thinking of Body Melt, an Aussie horror flick with the chick from the Coles ads and Blue Healers.
jeff
i remember seeing a pretty full on aussie horror? movie years ago called TURKEY SHOOT very gory and graphic, people getting cut in half with bobcat buckets etc, i think LINDA STONER was in it :badgrin
