  1. So... A Duck walks into a bar. He asks the bartender "You got any Bread?" Bartender says "Nah mate, this is a bar. We don't have any bread" The Duck says "Ah..." and pauses for a moment and asks "You got any Bread?" The Bartender is all confused and says "No mate, we don't have any Bread" The Duck pauses again, and says "Ah... You got any Bread?" Irritated, the Barman says "No. No Bread!" The Duck pauses, then asks "You got any Bread?" By now the Bartender has had enough. He says "No! for the last time we don't have any bloody bread! If you ask me again i'll grab you and nail your beak to this !@#$ bar!!" The Duck says "Ah... You got any Nails?" Bartender says "No" The Duck pauses for a moment and asks "You got any Bread?"

  2. A pinball story …. About 30 years ago I got a Gottlieb 1964 World Fair. …. at the time it was in fair (sort of) condition. I re-did the cabinet art, as it had been changed. I got a Shay repro, and went through the whole machine. It has been on its legs and playing since then. Then in about 2010 I purchased a NOS playfield. To be more correct it was a ‘second’ or reject playfield. It came with some small issues but there were lots of them. We started playfield touch up in about 2012…. and finally finished it in 2022 …. So, after all that I just had to swap the playfield over which I’ve now done. After a couple of weeks chasing small issues like centering the pop bumper spoons, adjusting some switches, resoldering anything that came loose etc etc it is now playing really well and reliably, just as it has all the years I’ve owned it. The new playfield ain’t perfect, but it presents like a new playfield and has clean timber and fresh colors in the paint. My 30 year resto is complete. I really like this game. It’s a players’ game and the backglass art is fantastically good. I’ve had lots of fun with World Fair since I first played it at The Crystal Palace in George St Sydney in about 1965.

  4. Same, Moyra and I love our collection and I am sure many would think we have a few 'stinkers'...Haha. That's the beauty of pinball we all like something that someone else does not. Rush as a theme for me is meh, but the layout and shot flow on it look quite good. Keen to play one but may be difficult here in Aus I would say.

  5. Here's my biggest "stupid" which I somehow never learn from and keep repeating: 1) Enthusiastically jump up to the top platform, shooting all the way. 2) Super soak Kong until unable to do so due to incoming bee swarm 3) Merrily jump downwards to conceivably avoid incoming bee swarm. 4) Get hit by a bloody stinger on the downward trajectory. 5) Repeat!

  8. Really like the look of this game, and actually like the music. Thinking I’ll take one for the team and order one. Wish me luck! Havent heard of one other person interested. Might be a tough onsell - but maybe it’ll be bolted to the floor forever 😂

  9. To me pinball has nothing to do what others think of my collection or other toys. It's all about what I enjoy.

  14. This one is absolutely aimed at North America. Like Aerosmith was. Looks like a great game though - tbh I’m not a huge fan of ACDC, Metallica or Maiden, and those are probably my favorite 3 pins. Really cant wait to finally play GZ Jeff. Shouldn’t be long now.

  16. I am fairly new to owning a pinball in this hobby (1 year), but am an old soul that has played from the mid sixties. I grew up in England, have lived most of my life in the USA. I have traveled the world with the Offshore Oil Industry and the Dept of Defense. The closest I ever got to AUS was a month spent in Southern Borneo, Banjarmasin. Last year, I bought a 1992 Bally WPC89 Doctor Who pinball that had a rough life being routed. I got a fairly good deal on it, seeing it needed a lot of work. I learned on the job repairing, restoring and replacing parts. I must say, it looks very nice now and plays awesome. Life long Dr. Who fan. Saw the First Doctor on a Black/White TV that my Nan had in London. The Daleks really scared me as a child and I have been hooked ever since. EXTERMINATE...

  17. #OOO Agree that Hartnell was my first and favorite Doctor followed by Tom Baker. Not a fan of the most recent 3 doctors, but liked the female companions and their acting. I always wanted to build a Dalek and have even saw plans and parts for sale. Too ambitious of a project for my old hands. The built ones are too expensive. Will be satisfied with the one on top of my pinball moving to sounds and lighting up as I go about jumping obstacles in video mode. I am trying to build a second machine out of spare parts, but they are hard to come by and getting more expensive by the minute. Wish I had a Tardis time machine to go back a few years. Cheers all, thanks for the good words.

  18. Contact grease, you can get it from Jaycar in a pressure pack. The hotspots are from the in rush current that happens when a coil is first powered up. Bad burning is caused by trying to power a partially cooked coil. Don't run it dry or you'll just speed up the damage you are always going to get. You can repair by soldering or a car rear window heating element repair kit. I think SupaCheap have those. It looks like a tube of supa glue but conducts power.

  19. it is a shaded pole ac motor there, so reversing the wires wont make it go backwards as you found out. Someone hacked in that motor/gearbox as you say, it is not original... the original is a "can" type motor, not an open frame. Sort of ingenious hacking there, but they got caught out by the rotation of the motor, hence the "twist" fix

  20. Try @KJS I've used soft and warm whites depending on the machine in question. Pretty sure I got these from him rather than the guy that bagged him........Opps, no name Babak

  23. I quite like the burgers at 8bit on Swanston St. They opened a store in Sydney a while ago, which also had 2 arcade machines which were fun to play on. Sadly they closed the Sydney store, but I still remember the good fun food there ... http://www.eat8bit.com.au/

  24. Delayed reply from my end but no, I will never use Krylon triple thick myself. A long time mate of mine has had a small tin on the shelf for a couple or years and he's kindly opened it with trepidation and it all still looks clear with no funny smells or melt on the underside of the lid. To seal the the deal (LOL-pardon the pun ) part of the work is he's given me is a nasty looking Stern one to try the mix on 1st - nothing ventured , nothing gained I guess.

  25. If Godzilla had the Expression lighting they'd of been topping out at 17k+ with their extra mechs you'd think. I don't know if moving forward some models may not get them and the price on those comes down again? Zep got the lighting. Seems a 'music/band theme only' thing so far with Stern.

  29. Good on the guys at AMD for taking a break over Christmas. I'm exited too but an extra week or two won't hurt anyone. It's just a pinball.

  30. Music is of course always subjective...but oh my god my EARS!!!! How did this get made over soooooo many great other bands?? Don't get this one personally and hey, thats the beauty of pinball right!

  31. I think AMD opens and checks all the games before any leave. They don’t have to check the others as Zax and Joe do their own checks. They probably got them shipped just before they shut shop and didn’t have time to check them all. Joe over here was obviously open when AMD wasn’t to check and deliver.

  35. A Grandpa Story to Be Proud Of... Last week, I took my grandchildren to a restaurant. Before we ate, my 8-year-old grandson asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, & I would thank you even more if Grandpa gets us ice cream for dessert - and liberty & justice for all. Amen!" There was laughter from the other customers nearby, except one woman who I heard remark, "That's what's wrong with this country? Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why I never!" Hearing this, my grandson burst into tears & asked me, "Did I do it wrong Grandpa? Is God mad at me?" After I assured him that he had done a terrific job & that God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my grandson & said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer." "Really?" my grandson asked. "Cross my heart," the man replied. Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is sometimes good for the soul.” Naturally, I bought my grandchildren ice cream at the end of the meal. My grandson stared at his ice cream for a moment, & then he did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae &, without a word, walked over & placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you, you grumpy old bitch. Shove it up your arse!"

  37. A quick FYI. The legend that is @timmychap has reviewed the spreadsheet and will do a final audit after the close of results in December to "tidy up" any double entries etc. Initial review changes a couple of places in a minor way, but final audit will make sure all players that have qualified will be in their correct places. Final qualifiers will be shown by second week of January and displayed here.
