  2. Hey all. Reminder to all interested Queensland players. Brewdog continues their pinball comps tomorrow afternoon/evening (4/3/21) from 5pm onwards. Brisbane Pinball Club format for this event. Come by and set the highest possible score on each of the included machines with finals to follow. Hoping to see a healthy turnout for this event as Brewdog has been kind enough to join the pinball community and are the official BPAC venue for 2021!! I will be directing this tournament for the first time so please bear with me. However I am keen to have a couple of volunteers for scorers and helpers so if you're available to help out and are familiar with the matchplay software come and see me when you sign up. Looking forward to seeing you all there! -Tyson

  3. Well it’s been a while since I’ve had anything worth adding for this from Tony (Illawarra Steelers) Game had tons of hacks and added mechanisms and all sorts of stuff removed as expected from a sited machine Game had been rigged up to be 40c a game and always 2 players and with very little info out there about the game it was hard to know what was original etc. head a break through with an American guy who just purchased one and he sent me some pics at first it was a holy shit moment as his was a very basic almost empty base board mine was overloaded with stuff 😂😂 but with his photos I was able to work out what was original what was not needed and how the game was supposed to work, his Mine The difference between mine and the other one is mines a deluxe model with matching number features and other score bonus type option my match stepper unit is missing the wiper plate and has wires hanging everywhere. this things a death trap and a nightmare to work on every time I’m inside I have a though if not only the Playfield but both the Playfield and glass coming down and I’d be stuck thst Playfields bloody akward and heavy managed to get it fully playable today since the match unit is missing parts I stole other parts from the match section to replace the missing parts in the reset bank that controlled the 1 or 2 player options one day I’ll look into the match option but for now match feature on a free play machine is very low priority

  6. After some recommendations to suit Gottlieb, Bally and Willams SS machines. Prefer multi game as in dip switch settings determine game MPU board suits. Here is one to suit Ballys as an example..... AlltekSystemsUltimate MPU Universal Bally/Stern Replacement Board but you guys have mentioned many to suit all the brands over various threads. I thought it would be good to have all this useful information all on the one thread to help me out and maybe others as well.

  13. TICKETS ON SALE NOW!!! After a brief death in 2020, both Death By Pinball and Death By Arcade RISE FROM THE GRAVE to once again set fourth the challenge of a 24 hour gaming marathon over the Easter weekend. Kicking off from 9am on Bad Saturday the 3rd of April, the tortured ticket holders will enter a closed door event in the Netherworld. Special rewards will be given to those that actually survive the night with each survivor given a special 'Death By' patch. Over the course of the event, we'll also be raising some funds for Beyond Blue. Tickets are $130 each and come with entry, a limited edition pin, 3 meals, a midnight snack, 3 drinks and a Death By Pinball 2021 T-shirt with art by Nelson Gibbins. 14. Hi all, Putting out the feelers for an unwanted/unloved Tron Pro. I have a fully restored and mint Funhouse as partial trade bait. I also have a Stars, Whirlwind or World Cup Soccer which I'd possibly consider as part of the package. These 3 pins are all in working order and were to completely restored, and include various spares ie repro playfields, new ramps, plastics, cab art etc etc.

  15. Stupidly bought a new PC a few weeks back, now I gotta sell some stuff to pay for it. Luckily I have multiple N64s and Genesis' looking for new homes. First up is this unit with the etim's N64RGB board v1.1. Mod was installed by me, looks OK if you ask me and I've recently run it for 10 hours straight with no issues so it should hold up quite well. The mod board itself is about 4 years old, the colours are great but with this being an older revision there is some video noise. Even with Borti's 3.3v filter circuit the noise is still visible. It can't be seen when playing on CRT or via OSSC with scanlines at anything over 20%. You won't notice it during gameplay so much, mostly on menus and things when there is no motion and/or a solid screen or background of a mostly pale/light colour. And if you play from a couple metres away you won't see it at all unless your on a 75-inch screen. Has borti's firmware installed with de-blur, console reset and 15-bit video mode all switchable via controller button combos. Modded console with AU power supply only is $110 (can do JPN psu if preferred) Controllers - $30 each. All sticks are 7 - 8.5. Have opened the controller modules to remove dust from the breakdown of the plastic, didn't improve stick rating to any noticeable degree. 2 x blue [sOLD] 2 x charcoal/black top plate and grey bottom plate (came with Japanese Mario Kart 64) 1 x charcoal/black 1 x grey (stick is about a 6 on this one so $15 if anyone wants it) Retro Console Accessories SNES luma sync cable (necessary for this RGB mod) $40 Could do a modest discount if you want controllers, console, psu and SCART cable. Seeing as it's AussieArcade I'm guessing peeps will already have various parts. Will have another Japanese N64 up soon, has borti's N64 RGB advanced board v1 installed. Probably asking about $150 for just console and psu. Put this one together myself, has also recently been run for 10 hours straight with no issues. [Gonna keep this for now actually, had too much fun when testing] Also have a US Genesis VA6 with Voultar RGB bypass v2 and FirebrandX M1 Mini Mega Amp. The RGB is amazing on that one and the sound is the best I've heard from a Genesis/MD - really good balance between high end and low end. Should have this up in a few days. Anyway, below are some pics showing Mario Kart 64 menu on CRT and on a 1440p PC monitor via OSSC at 4x with optimal timings. Couldn't get the OSSC sampling phase dialled in so the eagle-eyed may notice that not all pixels are razor sharp. I don't think it scales perfectly to 1440p anyway. Still looks great though! CRT looks much better to the naked eye - seems iPhone camera doesn't capture it very accurately, probably the refresh rate.

  16. Hey All, Bought a bartop kit from WWF and thought I'd document my build here, hopefully I can get some feedback on the parts I'm looking to put in in case there's a better way to do things! Hardware: WWF's Medium Bartop HP 19" LCD - Bezel removed Raspberry Pi 3 B+ Logitech Z213 2.1 Speakers & Sub Red T-Moulding Controller: Zippy Joystick 15 Goldleaf buttons 2 Player start buttons Zero Delay USB Encoder + Wiring kit from eBay Artwork: I've modified the Raiden MK2 side art and put my spin on it, next up is to finish the marquee and cpo, still deciding if I want to do a bezel and put perspex on top of that and the monitor as I've seen done in a few other builds. Software: Standard RetroPie for now, modifications to come later

  19. Update on the NB2 Board, they are still available, the Pinball technology web site is currently down. They moved the web site to a new host and in their words "we broke stuff" :) The site should be up in a week or so, worth a look for these sorts of projects. Best thing is you could easily just swap the SD card out and put the pinny into profanity mode MP3 files for a bit of fun :D

  26. Yes, you still have to qualify them with x amount of hits but you can repeat them over and over. I think also even after they are maxed you can restart for jackpots but not totally sure on that one. I'll have to give it a go. Also can cancel album mini wizard by holding the action button which allows you to immediately go for next song.

  28. Was the NW7 for all Williams SS or just to system 6 and not system 7?. Similar question for the NB2...17 and 35 board only or later as well?. Incredibly my exact same thought when I first read Atari Tam's post. Multi game board allows for many layouts and game rules with the reliability of a brand new board. No boards incorperate coil and lamp drivers as well for any of the makes?. @Boots sound as well and easy to add user sounds. I love that feature.

  39. Time to start restoration of my upright Outrun cabinet! First up we have the teardown, the next thing to concentrate on will be cabinet repairs. The good news is I have a working PCB set with thanks to Womble. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1961-768x1024.jpg So here it is, in its current state from the front. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1960-768x1024.jpg I haven’t cleaned it up at all since I got it, but it was stored outside but undercover by previous owner. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1963-1024x768.jpg Lots of dirt and cobwebs in here http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1964-1024x768.jpg Coin box covered in rust. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1965-1024x768.jpg Coinbox removed. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1966-1024x768.jpg Front coin mech plate removed. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1967-1024x768.jpg Steering & force feedback. 42. The LAI 4 player cabs use a 'credit pool' system. When you add coins the credits go into the pool and are displayed on the LCD 8-segment display you have pictured, when a player's start button is pressed it takes a credit from the pool (via Credit Out pins) and adds it to the corresponding player. The 4 credit buttons located inside the coin door skip the credit pool and add a credit directly to the corresponding player (via Credit Switch pins). I think the Credit Lamp pin is daisy chained and 12 volt, I'll have to check that and the display wire colours.

  44. I picked this beauty up earlier in the week: What looks to be a NOS (or unboxed, but never used) 486 DX33 + 14" screen. Apparently was ex-CSIRO or something similar, as it was found in a container full of other scientific gear. The system is a DX33 + 20MB of RAM and has on-board IDE/FDD controllers, both of which are pretty unheard of for a machine from the early 90s (and probably was horrifically expensive). Also has a whole bunch of Gamma-Metrics scientific measurement cards in it, which makes sense as the system itself is branded Gamma-Metrics - guessing it's a pre-built kit they used to sell at some point in the past. Bunch more pictures over here: Also uses one of those plug-in, external type batteries so zero leakage or damage to the board. It all works, although I need to figure out how to get into the BIOS (or configure HDD options), as the battery is definitely flat. At least confirms it works!
