  1. The only common thread that runs through what you've said is a sense of grievance. It's very hard to understand where that comes from. I don't understand the value of saying COVID 19 is endemic (it's not) and then simultaneously lamenting that quaratine could break down (the only thing that is prevently it from being endemic). Next is complaining about the 'bozos overseeing the farce' being the public health people who have stopped us from turning into the UK or US; the very same people who have had their recommendations for pandemic preparedness ignored for the last decade or so. Finally, we get the suggestion that lives can't be saved which is just flat out false as you acknowledge one sentence later. It also quite obviously has no moral basis. It amounts basically to fuck the elderlyy, the diabetics, those with respiratory issues (including asthma), people with heart issues etc.

  3. Put 3 or so people on ignore and this thread becomes significantly less crazy. They also often end up being the people worth ignoring in other threads as well, so it's win-win. It's good to see more people standing up to the insane bullshit being spouted by a vocal minority.

  4. Decided after building some arcade replica’s it was time to build a virtual pinball. Boy they are hard work haha. 32 inch ips monitor for the playfield. 24 inch monitor for the back glass and a repurposed laptop screen as a DMD. i5 12gb ram. Currently using a GTX 960 2gb but will upgrade that. Using Pinballx with about 150 tables split between Visual pinball X and FX3. Will also add SSF.

  5. I have been designing a 3d printed case with FreeCAD and printed one out to see how the tolerances were for the screen and zif socket and was pleasantly surprised that the zif socket was a perfect friction fit, but the screen needs a little bit of tweaking. I also need to add some additional buttons and this initial print did not include the hole for the power switch of the usb charging socket.

  6. Have you read what's going on overseas? Would you rather be in the US, UK, Germany or Australia? Do you know why we can move around whithout there being virtually no risk to our health from covid? It wasn't all luck, the lockdown in Vic for instance, saved our bottom here for instance. Not questionable priorities only the saving of businesses, lives and our economy. There is a clear link between higher numbers of deaths from the virus and a weaker economy for instance. source:https://ourworldindata.org/covid-health-economy. Nothing is perfect in this scenario, however we're in an enviable position. :unsure:blink::rolleyes:confused::D:o;)

  9. Mate I don't know what to make of your last post. Seems something is wrong with Tapatalk, (I don't use it so I have no idea), and something to do with your house and you could possibly stay?. Don't know but either way this forum needs you and people like you. Your an outstanding teacher regarding all things pinball. I think I'm right in this assumption considering I have learnt quite a bit from you. If you no longer post, I say now, thank you. If you are able to continue posting, I look forward to your next post.

  10. From what I’ve seen and read elsewhere, the 123 target repros are also wrong. They’re also shortened, so the problem is doubled. The remaining targets are not as bad. Anyway. It just took me heaps longer to even find this post. With Tapatalk being taken down, it looks like I’m not going to be posting or participating much anymore. Maybe an update here or there. Thanks for all all the support I’ve had through this thread. Hopefully things go my way with the house and Dedshed and I get to stay. Either way I will probably do some barn posts. Cheers guys.

  12. I've had this for about 6 years and it's time to move it on to a new home. Note! this does NOT include the PC. This isn't a turnkey solution for virtual pinball. It would suit someone who is looking for a project where all you need to add is the PC. The cabinet is in fair condition. It could do with a sand and paint in some areas, if you are worried about that kind of thing. It has a scratch on the left side. (see pic) INCLUDED ---------------------------------------------- Full Judge Dredd Cabinet ie rails, lockdown, glass, head unit, Coin Door (not JD) Glass has some scratches. Cabinet is rough internally but the whole thing is very solid. I bought this cabinet as a stripped unit from a pinball supplier for $750 6 years ago. 2 x40" LCD TV both working fine - 1x Samsung series 6 (1080p, playfield) and 1x Sony Bravia used for backglass (720p) both screens are circa 2006-2009 ish. Both are excellent quality displays and have great colour. (see vids.) The samsung includes remote, but the Bravia doesn't. Both LCD's have had the cases removed. 4x SSF (surround sound feedback) - speakers. These speakers are called 'exciters' and use sound to provide physical feedback that you feel through the cabinet and in your hands. This adds hugely to the feel and immersion. You feel flippers, slings, bumpers, etc etc just like you would on a real machine. 1x amp for the SSF system. 1x Subwoofer system - 2x sattelite speakers and 1x subwoofer (sits inside the cab) These are used for rom-based music for SS and DMD games. 1x MS Sidewinder (bare pcb mounted internally in the cab) this gives you the ability to physically nudge the machine and the gameplay will respond. Can be setup to react to forward and side nudges, etc etc, strength is tuneable in VP. All buttons, Plunger, Ipac2 interface board. ---------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, any questions or if you want more pics of anything just message me. $750 for the lot

  15. I reckon pinball will never die its just to much fun whenever my mates come round with their kids all the kids want to do is play pinball which i encourage because i can remember being 5 years old playing a friend of the families em gottlieb bronco and ever since then it has instilled in me a love for playing the silver ball it also made me aspire to one day owning my own pinball which i did 15 years later mates would come over and would be blown away by the fact that i had a pinball machine most of my mates now or at sometime since then have owned a pinball n if they dont they come round to my place n play it is truely awesome to hear a seven year old kid turn to his five year old brother after playing my data east star wars and say THAT WAS INTENSE then proceed to play umpteen games of pinbot it makes me smile and think that one day these young uns will have their own pinball machines to play arcades are good and i love playing them but pinball is better from em solid state to dmd pinball is the bees knees its perfect (when they are working) i reckon why change something thats perfect

  22. Yes, it's interesting that it says 'Taito Australia' and not just 'Taito', suggesting it didn't originate from Taito Japan and possibly licensed to Taito for Australia only by another Japanese company

  23. Is there a plan to eradicate it? Would any such plan be feasible? Is it going to just go away on its own? If not, then it’s endemic. I’m not lamenting that it could break down, I’m pointing out that it has broken down- repeatedly- and that the structural weaknesses that caused it to break down have not been addressed, ensuring that it will continue to break down. I’m not talking about ‘public health people’, I’m talking about the career politicians who are responsible- Jigsaws Morrison, Dictator Dan, the appropriately-named Brad Hazzard, the missing-in-action Peter Dutton etc. Are you saying they ignored their own recommendations? Everybody dies. Can you give an example of someone who won’t? ??? EDIT: Do you mean this sentence? "Hasn't been" does not imply "could have been". Wheel Of Fortune's wizard mode hasn't been achieved. END EDIT You’re right about this. Pointing out that people don’t live forever doesn't have a moral basis, but a factual one. It comes from the fact that there are important questions that go to the heart of coronavirus policy that nobody has ever provided a clear answer to, and that most people seem to want to avoid asking themselves. I already posted two of these questions and nobody here was either willing or able to answer them:

  27. Yep excellent point. I forgot all about these. Then there was pin2000 as a change up to the norm and a big fail. If change comes it'll have to be real gradual. Millimeters here and there so people actually don't notice the change. pinball and a slow death I dunno. I've said this for many years but also house prices will plummet and both don't look likely for some time. If pinball dies it'll be quick. The fad will finish and game over. I don't think current buyers are diehard like my gen but I could be mistaken

  29. It's been done Steve, Remember the Take Five style pinball machine. Not wall mounted but the concept is workable that's about as small as you would go IMO.

  30. I think pinball by design is just fine the way it is. It’s the change in this generations mindset who would rather get the quick rush of winning tickets out of a redemption machine or racing friends in the Daytona’s. Pinball has always been a game of skill and requires a degree of thinking and strategy. Pokies and redemption games are basically the same just targeted at different age groups. I think new Pinball will die a slow death from a manufacturing point of view because it’s just getting very expensive to buy model after model.

  33. Interesting. Problem with streamlining and reducing weight is nudging might push the game through the wall. Btw a criticism I heard often about sterns was the felt light and flimsy compared to b/w games. So having a lighter game may take some getting used to for some. aliens was criticised for it's head because it was different to the norm. Maybe that's why games haven't changed too much?

  37. The other day, my friends and I went to a strip club. One of my friends wanted to impress the rest of us, so he pulled out a $10 bill. When the dancer came over to us, my friend licked the $10 bill and stuck it to her butt cheek! Not to be outdone, another friend pulled out a $20 bill. He called the girl back over, licked the $20 bill, and stuck it to her other butt cheek. In another attempt to impress the rest of us, my third friend pulled out a $50 bill and called the girl over. I was worried about the way things were going, but he licked the bill and just stuck it to one of her butt cheeks again. My relief was short lived. Seeing the way things were going, the girl gyrated over to me! Now everyone's attention was focused on me, and the girl was egging me on to try and top the $50. My brain was churning as I reached for my wallet. What could I do? I got out my ATM card, swiped it down the crack of her arse, grabbed the 80 bucks and went home.
