  4. Been lurking for a while, but thought I should finally take the plunge. I haven't really had much to do with pinballs since playing them in the 60s, but with occasional more time on my hands now have recently become sort of obsessed with owning one (some?). I'm particularly fascinated with the electromechanicals and plan to grab one when I can. I know it will be a steep learning curve, but it is heartening to see the support freely given by members of the Aussie Arcade community to those in strife, so looking forward to the journey. Cheers, John

  6. Couldn't agree more with this statement. I find it particularly frustrating Stern are increasingly leaving out inexpensive features on many of their pro model's in order to sell more premiums and LE's. The fact they have left out entire ramps on their last two pro releases (that couldn't cost more than $50 at most to manufacture) is a concerning new trend.

  7. I've got a blue CPS2 A and B board case (with clips, fan, button covers) that is collecting dust. I'd love for this to find a home with someone that could use it. If you're in the Melbourne area and can pick it up, it's yours.

  8. I am still really enjoying my modded out pro alot. So much so I am going to fit a new playfield that has been re cleared just to make it even better and longer lasting, and poilsh and tweak all of the playfield right up. Some of my observations and feeling on it. Bearing in mind I am generally not a fan of any new games tbh. Theme - well our whole house loved the series so it is a no brainer Sound - amazing just with a simple sub upgrade and fine tuning the onboard eq settings Game play - suited to my likes, feels alot like my Afm and Theatre to me flow wise. I am not a full blown comp nitty gritty player just love flow, art, sound and fun factor. Yet to complete everything by a long way. I have it setup up steep and fast. Demo - Can hit it in the mouth approx 1 in 5-7 shots or therabouts, most people who play it get it in at least once in a game or two. All I did was remove the front small hex post. Personally not a fan of the magnet diverter and projector on the premium and LE and very happy with what I have done with my pro. I know others love it though. There's some stuff over on pinside about flipper fade and a guys has made some bolt on fan mods to cool the coils - personally never had an issue, even with playing for 3 hours or more. Lock post was replaced by Amd - it was faulty in production. I replaced coil stops from new with better quality ones. So overall very happy with it and fits well in my 10 or so collection. I went into the purchase knowing I would change it straight away though as I pretty much can't stand the art packages Stern put out - but that is just my own view and taste. I would love to see a video mode - retro arcade based maybe - but I doubt they will pony up and extend themselves on this. Pretty sure they just want to keep pumping out titles every few months. It's sort of a love hate relationship for me with Stern. I love they are going strong and putting games out and keeping pinball alive, but the churn out processes and theme translations/art leave me wanting....... Amd were an absolute pleasure to deal with and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again. Polite, great communication and service.

  9. I was very down on this game when it first came out but over the last two months I’ve had a chance to play it regularly and it has really grown on me. I would go as far to say that the people who are negative on it, maybe haven’t given it enough plays. It can be a little brutal with drains off the center targets, but you can adjust your play to eliminate these. Ive had no issues with ramp diverted and can usually shoot the ball into the demogorgan. The UV kit also looks great.

  11. Hey all. Just a little thing I want to throw out there.. but is really important. There as been a few spikes of Ronna and while QLD is dodging it again I don't want to take any chances. Especially going into Xmas. I just want to remind everyone that if you are not feeling well PLEASE Stay home. We will have hand sanitiser here. I am going to ask that everyone does the right thing and use it. I am sure there is nothing to worry about. BUT I would rather be safe then sorry. Finally, it is Xmas and I want to be the nice guy. So please all you bozo's do the right thing and don't force me to be an asshole at my own house ball... LOL It is gonna be a great night!.

  12. The best we can do with this game is simply not buy it. By supporting them (and buying this game) we're encouraging these ordinary, at best, efforts. I wanted to love this game, not for me but perhaps for you..I mean have a look at the slingshot plastics and name a modern game with so little effort in the creation of the art. It seems they either had little TZ IP or little creativity or both. Of course the lack of depth doesnt begin and end at the slings, it consistent if anything. AIQ/JP in comparison is genius, so stern are capable or should I say KWE is capable. JP with little IP too but the shots..ooooh Great time to be interested in pinball however, lots of choices!!

  13. I picked this beauty up earlier in the week: What looks to be a NOS (or unboxed, but never used) 486 DX33 + 14" screen. Apparently was ex-CSIRO or something similar, as it was found in a container full of other scientific gear. The system is a DX33 + 20MB of RAM and has on-board IDE/FDD controllers, both of which are pretty unheard of for a machine from the early 90s (and probably was horrifically expensive). Also has a whole bunch of Gamma-Metrics scientific measurement cards in it, which makes sense as the system itself is branded Gamma-Metrics - guessing it's a pre-built kit they used to sell at some point in the past. Bunch more pictures over here: Also uses one of those plug-in, external type batteries so zero leakage or damage to the board. It all works, although I need to figure out how to get into the BIOS (or configure HDD options), as the battery is definitely flat. At least confirms it works!

  22. In 1980 I was in year 11 and my school trialled a subject called 'an introduction to computer science', teaching BASIC programming - it wasn't a HSC subject so I couldn't continue it in year 12. The computer (yes, only 1) the school received (presumably after tendering) was locally made, if it even had a model name I don't remember it. BASIC in ROM, monochrome graphics, cassette interface and an electrostatic printer for program listings which printed onto rolls of silver / grey metallised paper that looked like cash register receipts. At the time it was great! I was so into it I bought an Ohio Superboard (I worked weekends to afford it) which ran rings 'round the school computer with its 6502 running at a blistering 1MHz. BASIC in ROM was by a little known startup company called Micro Soft. RAM was a bit limited at 4kBytes so removing unnecessary punctuation from programs was an art form. At the end of the course we submitted a program of our own, in BASIC. I'd had the advantage of a computer at home to learn how to POKE characters around the screen memory so my project was, you guessed it, Space Invaders. I had to move the invaders one at a time to make it run well enough and they 'jumped' a character at a time. A bit slow but still fun, Regards, John

  23. The UV modes are awesome. The only criticism I would have (also as a big ST fan) is that the game misses some of the 80’s coolness and humor. I do really like the SH@T (shit) mode which always makes me laugh! Cleland’s Alt soundtrack mix (with a couple of 80’s songs on it) does also help lift the game to a higher level.

  30. CFTBL does actually have different coils for left and right flippers. I'll check tomorrow. Edit; I have heard of people lifting the hood on a Creech for the 1st time and seeing that it does have two different colis then thinking some one has done a dodgy hack previously and "rectified" the perceived previous "repair"

  31. Pessimeister: 193, 040 Encountered an odd scoring bug earlier where I got 168 k only for it to appear on the score screen as 161. Something to keep an eye on. Section 8 is proving to be quite brutal. One false jump and you're a mere flash in the pan. :)

  34. Common issue on these PSU's is the 100uf cap leaks and usually the 330uf also. Best to replace them all, I just did one yesterday with the same issue.

  35. Hard to see it happening. Wonder how much of the “GNR effect has killed interest in this game. Releasing a phoned in pin so close to GNR has really hurt this release.

  36. AIQ is pretty darn good! Soooo many ramps and they’re all nice to hit! I’m not usually a flow guy but this game flows really nicely. The code is nice and isn’t at full iteration yet. The game is beautiful to look at. There’s probably a little too much of knowing where to place the gems for me but that’s my only real gripe with it. Otherwise I think 99% of people will love this game

  39. Whoo hooo when you loose your right leg you also loose your license to drive to get it back you have to go through a similar test as we all did back when we were 18yo. though the written part also includes a cognitive test to see if you still have all your marbles i had done the written test back in March, i was about to do the practical portion when every thing closed due to CV19 now that things are reopening testing also resumed i needed to take a few lessons to get used to using my left foot, that was the easy part they also check your driving skills, getting over 30 years of bad habits is a challenge took the test this morning and passed easy legal to drive again now just need to get the car converted for my left foot (will post pics when done) yay!!
