  1. Will add more close up photos, but here is my console room. 15 consoles hooked up to widescreen crt tv. I found the tv on a nature strip and it’s an awesome tv.

  2. Time to start restoration of my upright Outrun cabinet! First up we have the teardown, the next thing to concentrate on will be cabinet repairs. The good news is I have a working PCB set with thanks to Womble. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1961-768x1024.jpg So here it is, in its current state from the front. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1960-768x1024.jpg I haven’t cleaned it up at all since I got it, but it was stored outside but undercover by previous owner. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1963-1024x768.jpg Lots of dirt and cobwebs in here http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1964-1024x768.jpg Coin box covered in rust. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1965-1024x768.jpg Coinbox removed. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1966-1024x768.jpg Front coin mech plate removed. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1967-1024x768.jpg Steering & force feedback. Couldn’t get them to budge using WD40 or giving them a good knock. I managed to fit a hacksaw blade under the pedal so I could saw through the bolts. Later I will remove the remainder of the bolts. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1971-768x1024.jpg Tada! rusted bolts removed. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1973-1024x768.jpg Lots of dirt. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1974-1024x768.jpg In the rear panel, terminal block connecting some mains voltages. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1975-768x1024.jpg Removed the mains lead cage. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1978-1024x768.jpg Next up the 2 power supplies will be removed. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1979-1024x768.jpg Not sure why there were 2, unless one died and it was left in. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1980-1024x768.jpg See the transformer blocks. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1982-1024x768.jpg Power distributor in front section. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1983-1024x768.jpg Lots of spider webs http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1984-1024x768.jpg Found $2.20 and a cigarette butt under the transformer mount.See the wooden panel that the wheels are mounted on has bent badly. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1985-1024x768.jpg Wooden bezel mount. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1986-1024x768.jpg Fan. http://www.tehkella.net/retro/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_1987-1024x768.jpg Fan removed. Now everything is apart, I can start cleaning up the cab. After I have removed the filth, I will make some repairs to the cab before working on it bit by bit to have a good looking cab one day!

  8. its cheap considering Bill is offering a door to door specialised service not a bulk courier service that the goods will be chucked in the back of a semi with 1000 other parcels. just look at it this way if he has to go out of his way by 30 mins for pick up and 30 for delivery $100 wouldn’t even cover what he should be making an hour running a van if it’s to much to pay send it by courier and hope for the best. Fingers crossed if you ever have to make an insurance claim through a courier company

  10. @zanderzone and all the crew.... @raysco @AtariTam LET ME PUT OUT A CONCEPT...... This could be a small trial of what could be friggin huge.... PINBALL CRAWL??? Concept is to move between venues. Ultimately in a Bus but at present a mini van or private cars could work... Preferably the venues are not too far apart. 10 maximum at present. Unfortunately. Arranged movement between venues. Yes that would mean multiple Hosts. And. Finding a way for the hosts to play multiple venues. Not sure what a hire bus / mini bus whatever costs but with enough people you could add a fee to the entry. Nominate a driver....Fukc knows who??? But make it worth their while... Don't forget travelling Pissheads are not the easiest to deal with. @namastepat Drop off and pick up can happen on a round trip..... Like Pincade and with a small feed at each venue? Hmnnn? Like Breakfast Beers, a counter lunch (More Beers) and a BBQ (Even More Beers?) Now that is what I think??? Any takers???:unsure

  13. What people ask on ebay means nothing really... what you need to do is look at sold items. Here's the Vectrex sold items. What things are actually selling for gives you a better idea of market prices. https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=vectrex&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1

  14. Most here know where I'm located - Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast. If you need more info on location, message me or ask around! Due to current restrictions, I'm limiting the number of people visiting my home to groups of 4 (obvious number)! I'll start the competition/stream this coming Saturday, 5th September 2020 at 10:30 am. I'll let people come in 2 hourly blocks to play. These can be extended if no one wants to follow after you. Not sure how this will work but with restrictions it the best way to do it. DO NOT COME if you are at all ill/have symptoms etc. Temps taken at the door. The stream/competition will continue until 5:30 pm. We can then do Sunday 6th if that suits, and then the same for the next weekend and so on. If you are happy to wait (and miss the first few weekly prizes) I'll be moving the game up to Netherworld for use there some time in October, thanks to Jimmy and Ben for this. There is NO COST for this competition here, byo drinks/snacks, and think about purchasing your parts/games from Wayne in the future! If you want to donate to the house there will be a tip jar available! https://www.mrpinball.com.au/ Just post here if you want to attend. See if you can car pool, and other games will be on to play in between games!

  24. I get asked to fix a lot of Hankin pinball boards and up until recently I had nothing to test the boards out in....not unless I had a machine here that i was fixing for someone and I could then test the boards out in that. It was hard to find a cheap battered up Hankin that i could part out to get the wiring harnesses out of as well as the transformer...every time something came up for sale it got jumped on pretty quickly. Well thanks to Rob M for finding an old Orbit1 for me that was a perfect candidate! A lot of time went into building this , it took a couple of months doing a little at a time as I have no spare time cause i’m always working. I’m pretty fussy as people would know from the neatness of my repairs so I wanted it to look and work perfectly…. i’m very happy with how it turned out.

  25. Just for you George, I made a vid ;) So we can all picture what happens if you can hit the money shot (10k per spin) while in 5x multiball Lol ... million point shot :o The longer term aspect is building all four top lanes, and getting the hold early. Then build to 5x Bonus. Get bonus maxed and held. Then repeatedly collect the "s" lane, for 5x full bonus, over and over again. This bonus collect is Not multiplied by the Playfield Multiball multiplier, only multiplied by whatever the Bonus Multiplier is at. Obviously, as you progress some lanes become benign, or depleted. The Hold and Extra Ball will only ever score once per Ball in play (and you want Hold first). The Bonus Multiplier lane can award/progress up to four times, but bonus multipliers also can come from Left Inlane-Right orbit-Obscure Target ... shot. Then it (the 'T' lane) becomes a nothing too. The Collect Bonus on the left 'S' lane Always awards when lit. So, if you have all four lower and all four uper 'star' inserts lit and everything maxed, every ball that goes up spinner has a kinda roughly 25% chance of collecting max bonus. Just keep balls going up that spinner lane and not down the guts ;) Realised afterward sorry, the overexposure, I'll keep recording.

  28. Start off with a set price. Ebays probably a wider audience being Aust wide and international if you've got something hard to get, but there's fees. Gumtree and market place more for local, no fees. Auction is better if your items are in demand.

  29. You'll make more selling individually than a bundle price, you might end up with a couple or few left over games selling that way though.

  36. More ramp fixes. End had broken and this fix looked rather bad. So using the piece that I removed from the spotlight fix, I made up a nicer looking strengthening strip. I think a full piece going across the top would make a nice addition, even a piece of art plastic covering the top of the exit. But this is fine for this one.

  38. Hey mates For the love of gaming Ben and I are going to open the bar Monday nights for some fun time game times. 4pm to 10pm. No Kitchen. Bar open, but you can only drink in the front room whilst seated. Diner and Arcade open for games on coin drop. Rule of cool. Sanitize after each game. Be conscious of space and social distancing. Hoping to keep this pretty chill but you're welcome to bring down some friends. See you Monday!!

  39. Interesting idea Dave.. You a top bloke to open your house over 3 days. Only issue for me would be running the software. I won't have time to run it over 3 days and finals might be a bit problematic... But no reason not to have this meet and everyone have an awesome time. Just might have to leave it off the offical HB score. Thoughts?

  40. Probably already added before, i haven't been keeping up lately :( BEST LITTLE JOHNNY JOKE EVER!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Little Johnny meets Clive Palmer Clive Palmer was visiting a primary school in Perth and visited a grade four class. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asked Mr Palmer if he would like to lead the discussion on the word 'tragedy.' So the fat bastard asked the class for an example of a 'tragedy'. One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs him over and kills him, that would be a tragedy." "No," said Clive , "that would be an accident." A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove off a cliff, killing everyone, that would be a tragedy." "I'm afraid not," explained Palmer . "That's what we would call great loss." The room went silent. No other child volunteered. Clive searched the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?" Finally at the back of the room, Little Johnny raised his hand. The teacher held her breath. In a quiet voice he said: "If the plane carrying you was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy." "Fantastic!" exclaimed Clive , "That's right. And can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?" "Well," says Johnny, "It has to be a tragedy, because it sure as hell wouldn't be a great loss ... and you can bet your sweet ass it wouldn't be an accident either!" The teacher left the room

  43. I have decided to start piecing the playfield together as I’m finding I’m missing little bits and pieces when sorting through all that I have acquired and I will spend as much on shipping as I have on parts if I keep doing what I am doing! I have built a two rotisserie’s and fitted the two playfields I have. I fitted all the light boards, lamp holders, switches etc on one of the playfields which was a good thing as it showed what I was missing which was very minimal, It also showed me that the bottom of the playfield marks with dirt etc really easily. This playfield was the poorer of the two I have and the one I am going to have a go at restoring, clearing etc. On the better playfield I decided to clear/seal and partly polish the underside as then I can wipe it clean. I masked up the inserts and sanded with 60 grit up to 240 grit and then laid two coats of Satin clear from a spray can rub back again with 1200 grit with 1 more coat and a light polish with novus 2. As I had cleared/sealed the underside I went to good old Bunnings and got some oak timber and made up some rails and painted them Satin Black and restored a back panel I had sourced. The panel had the original decal which I flattened out with a heat gun and masked up with Blue Painters tape so I could sand, paint etc. Fitted the rails/back panel to the playfield. Will hopefully get some time to fit up the remainder I have in the coming weeks. With this weekend being 20+ degrees great chance to finish priming my cabinet ready for decals.

  44. Great to see the ideas floating, With simple games this is true, eg for 15 lamps "direct wiring" you can have 64 on a Matrix. Also if not using leds make sure the cables can carry the current, a lot of the computer style cables are made very cheaply and may not like that much current or drop the voltage too much. these are not great with high current or voltage unless you parallel some of them up. not sure why the relays, what powers the relay when disconnected from the supply, just make sure power is off before changing playfields? High current/high DC voltage can be tricky with relays, unless you go very high spec. I really like the idea of a community of builders adhering to some sort of standardized specs. Commercial building of classics might get you in trouble from the license holders but for "own" use that you build or get built on the QT I am guessing you will be fine. Simple games are heaps of fun and with the prices skyrocketing for even the rough ones it may be a way for people to get a machine in their home and have a fun project to work on along the way.
