Advice Needed - 3D Printer
I got my first 3d printer late last year. I put off buying one for years thinking I would only print one or two things I needed and then leave it collecting dust like a lot of things I buy. But it was the total opposite. I'm printing stuff all the time especially with the vpin cab build I'm doing at the moment. Speaker drilling guides, flush trim jigs for routing, monitor mounting brackets. I've mostly used TinkerCad for designing as its fairly easy to learn and most of the things I've wanted to make can be made with it. The one I bought was an Ender 5 S1 so that's the only 3D printer I can offer an opinion on and can't really compare with others as I don't have experience with other brands / models. I think one of the main barriers to entry is actually choosing a 3d printer, even within the same brand like Creality for example they have so many different models. Pros -Relatively cheap at roughly $549 from the Creality AUS store -Good quality prints -Fast printing speed Cons -Needs assembly, best to watch some YouTube videos as the instructions aren't the best. -No enclosure. -Basic components, but can be upgraded eg noise reduction parts for the motors etc.. -220x220x280 build volume (maybe not an issue if you don't plan to make anything bigger) -

Jaws
Definitely is. Got a few air balls from the standups to the spinner reel but the fin target was no issue. I think they've designed it to withstand lots of shots to it as it has a hard backing plate. -

Advice Needed - 3D Printer
Have a good think about intended use. When these devices were new to consumer market "good" meant much the same thing to users, reliability, quality, speed. Now "good" is very different to different classes of user. Convenience, easy-multi-colour, wifi, print from phone, and other features factor very strongly in the community - printing toys, and figurines is super popular - so machines that do this easily are popular. Just consider this when reading reviews, etc. and don't pay for features you don't need. For begining, work out what types of material you want to print. resin, for super details (and a little expensive) small things. Filament for bigger, cheaper. If printing filament, what types of plastic will you print? PLA is by far the most common, is great for prototyping, and any printer will print it happily. If you want to print something else (say for more strength) then more care is needed in purchase as performance varies a lot. Avoid cloud-based anything - don't offer hackers access to anything that can be set alight 🙂 Nothing wrong with second hand either, if you can have a demo first. Lots of great machines being sold due to upgrade. AUTO BED LEVELING is a must unless you find carburetter tuning on small engines the most fun ever - because it's like that times 20. -

Thanks. Glad it's not just me as I've been having NBN issues. I've let the server OP know. @cwispy -

Another candy for sale. This one is all original. I have not had to do anything with it. Asking $2500 without MiSTercade system ($1000 extra for MiSTercade system if you want that) This one has very thin plastic on the back, I bought it with the two corner point cracks on the back plastic (having been hit into a wall or something hard at the back - at least twice! 😕) I've put gaffer tape over the cracks to give them a little protection and stop stuff catching on the holes. Preference to local Brisbane buyer for obvious logistical reasons. This one will fit through a standard door (might have to take off the door handle.- 1
