onetaste
While we’re on this topic, where’s the best place to buy solid state lamp holders in bulk, for replacing the entire lot in my machines?
Pop Bumper Pete
While we’re on this topic, where’s the best place to buy solid state lamp holders in bulk, for replacing the entire lot in my machines? I saw a friend use this style in an EM, easier to solder and will never corrode like the bayonet type this lamp and one other variation are what I am going to try with my next project

onetaste
Thx Guys. So for insert lamps you don’t bother with getting the 555 globe into the insert, just position it below. That works well enough?
Pop Bumper Pete
this is the picture that changed my mind a friend is doing a playfield swap on a captain fantastic
wiredoug
I do not believe your friend will be satisfied with the results of that pic. lamps emit light sideways, leds shine mostly upwards. the rollovers will be poorly light
Pop Bumper Pete
Thank you Doug he has done this once or twice before
KJS
Should maybe use flex leds
pinball god
I suppose this doesn't apply much today when using leds but I remember the old style holders can be bent repeatedly to change globes without the metal tab breaking.
onetaste
I’m an incandescent man. If the power supply is rebuilt/replaced and connectors repinned they are as bright as LEDs. Well, standard LEDs, not the ones that make you wear sunglasses.

Well, standard LEDs, not the ones that make you wear sunglasses. I love the warm glow that an incandecent bulb emits but for me I find now that LEDs emit a light that is more spread out, rather than the pinspots of 5 years ago, that they can brighten up dark playfields (rainbow puke still sucks) ;)
