Star Wars - The Last Jedi

Recommended Posts

Im going to start this here. Saw it last night at the midnight showing - totally unintended. Actually forgot it was coming out last night and went to see a late session of Thor aftera very enjoyable session on the Pinnies @ Pincadia. came out and saw crowds gathering and decided to hang around and grab a ticket. Would be interested to see what the feedback is from the good folk from AA. I will post some thoughts later myself when i have time, but sure there will be people here with an opinion of what they just watched.

Utterly unexpected, but absolutely loved it. Some of the bits felt a little off kilter (the whole Casino/hacker sub-plot felt a lot longer than it needed to be; Hux/Ren being utterly awful military commanders), but overall it was an absolutely solid Star Wars film and a heap of fun to boot. Adam Driver continues to be fantastic, also loved seeing Luke in the role of recluse/exile.

It's going to be divisive though. Will be significantly less middle ground in opinions here than there was with TFA...

I watched it with my son a few days ago. To be honest I had trouble saying i liked it. Its definitely a movie I'm going to have to see again to make a better judgement.

Unfortunately a few things at the start left a bad taste. Leia doing the Mary Poppins manoevre really was over the top. The 2nd act was completely pointless. Just a lot of the story was disjointed. But like i said needs a 2nd viewing.

Stern SW is still the best integrated theme that has come out imo. Brilliant programming.

Well I assume that only people that have watched it or want to know about it will open this thread... So I thought the following was bullshit:

Leia living after spacewalk

Ships running out of fuel (since when??????)

Breast milking/feeding scene

Luke doing zero in the film

Rubbish Snoke scene

Emo Kylo Ren can piss off

Oh and likely the worst of all, the mutiny... Never ever happening.

Could be down there with ep1. ep7 was slightly better.

Thanks for the quick rundown, I know I missed a couple of those scenes,I decided to go to Gold Class midday and was woken when my coffee was delivered, dosed off a couple more times and that was after the coffee. Now I'd like to say it was the comfortable recliner but somehow I don't think so.

SOME SPOILERS but not enough to give the movie away.

I liked the force awakens, they did play it safe but it was a tidy movie and it felt like a traditional star wars film, and I enjoyed the new and old cast members and it all fitted in nicely. But what was really good about Force awakens is it perfectly setup the environment for the next film, You felt like the next film is going to kick arse.

Now because of enjoying the Force awakens

I saw last jedi two night ago and went gold class, and yer it was OK at best.

But the Jokes, I dont know why they chucked all these bad jokes around?

Im all for Mumma jokes, but seriously mumma jokes in Star wars? come on.

Sadly there was so many bad jokes I honestly felt like this was a star wars spoof more than it was an actual star wars movie. Id say it was almost like watching spaceballs, but that would be an insult to spaceballs.

These were the sort of jokes that are typical of a modern Disney movie go figure. They were cheap gags at best and dumbed down the movie.

and as mentioned by others, WTF was with that titty sea cow thing spraying milk all over Luke? lol funny now thinking how stupid it was, not actually funny when watching the film.

As others have mentioned,I have no idea why they bothered with the Leia floating around in space thing, I thought ok this is where they are killing her off as we thought was going to have to happen at some point, but then she floats back into the ship like a frozen merry Poppins?

The casino Thing, Im not sure what other people thought of that But to me it didnt really look like anything from a traditional star wars, other than it may have fitted in more with the prequels that every one hates.

The other thing that was strange was the mutiny, I dont really get what that was about as it seemed unnecessary.

To sum it all up,

they really needed the same director to do the entire series, the directing on this movie was so different to the last that it didnt match up.

J.J. Abrams did a far better job than Rian Johnson, Out of the two guys only Abrams actually looked like he knew what a star wars film actually is.

Johnson just thought saying "May the the force be with you" every five minutes to a star wars sound track would be enough to convince you it was a star wars movie.

Honestly, because of the constant bad jokes and bad directing it felt like a spoof. but in fairness it was watchable and there was a few good moments. Not every one has the same tastes so there will be people who will like it and hate it. I personally feel it was the Wrong director choice for this film, plain and simple

I saw it last night

First time ever I haven't seen a SW movie within the first 2 days of opening - Xmas busy

Unfortunately the wait didn't help!

With most of the comments above (didnt read them until now due to any spoilers) I agree as the worst of the 8

Im still trying to workout the basic story which seem to go everywhere

Corny jokes, too many weird creatures that didnt do anything and that casino bit???

The start was good and thought woo-hoo here we go then.....

As they say the wing on the X-wing fell off!!

Sad to say but Rogue One still the best out of them all and its a spin off

It was certainly better than the Force Awakens but that isn't saying much.

SPOILERS.

Negs

No back ground story to Snoke was just crap...so disappointing.

Was expecting way more from Luke.

To much SJW influence.

That woman who was guarding the escape pods becoming an instant crack pilot.

Rae's instant skill with the light saber wtf.

WTF was the point of the whole casino thing? another pointless story arc with Yoda horses :/

Unforgettable characters I couldn't get invested in.

Positives.

Luke and Falcon/R2 moment

Luke and Yoda

Luke and Leia

Chewie and those Penguin things.

So I'm going to be watching The Last Jedi again since to 2 times I seen it as the cinemas, as I managed to get a copy today <_<

First time I watched it, I was very unsure about it....

There were some parts I really liked, but a lot of parts I hated and WTF (that's not Star Wars) moments.

I thought at the time that I really needed to see it again to know what my final thoughts of the movie would be.

The second time around.........

Absolutely hated it!

Couldn't stand being there and couldn't wait for it to finish, so I could go home.

This movie is about 30 min too long, which doesn't help it at all....

As I said I was able to get a copy today, not sure how soon ill watch it and I cant say I'm looking forward to it!

Would be nice if someone with the know how could edit this movie and cut out a lot of the crap and bad comedy.

Then maybe it could be more re-watchable, but will still be the worst Star Wars movie IMO.

Never want to see another Ryan Johnson, Star Wars movie again !

I really hope he doesn't get to do the trilogy he's supposed to be doing...
