The real Bathurst is back! ( *kind of )

Forget the seppo-ised Nascar modeled boring V8Supercar driver superstar rubbish... Bathurst in something resembling it's good old original Aussie form is Back! :D

The Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6hour production race weekend at the end of March, I think this is only the second annual event. I watched a Toyota (supra?) take it out about this time last year. It was great to watch!

Yesterday was the real Bathurst we needed

Better cars,mixed field

This seems to be more production oriented than lemans style "not for road use" . Like how the race cars used to be driven to the track! ;) Production car racing... is what I enjoy watching. Sell on monday kind of stuff :)

*About the commoners chariots rather than the celebrity gladiators...

Some may like it but I personally don't. One look at viewing numbers shows I'm not the only one that thinks that way either.

Won't be long before the once a year drivers come back out doing there bucket list things to do and cause the same carnage the last time they mixed fast cars with mom grocery getters in the one race being driven by stupid men with more money that good judgement under the impression they are good drivers because they can afford it like the Porsche series was once full of.

The last true Bathurst was last year I'm afraid and simply having production cars racing around Bathurst doesn't cut it for me.

Production car races are on at most race tracks around Australia regularly and was using the V8 super cars as the draw card and you take away that draw card and you may as well replace the production cars with pushbike races. They would probably get bigger crowds.

It is the fast Holden and Ford V8s that made Bathurst the race it become and a simple look back in history when the race weekend was changed for the production cars to race that weekend shows exactly that.

I used to watch the race religiously but now that other forms of cars are coming in to "cash in" on the race's history, no lost me I'm afraid.

Just to prove my point on how little interest this race has of you that watched this race I challenger you to tell me without any aid who won this race last year?

Not a big exception considering those that followed the V8 supercar races would have no trouble knowing who won last year's V8 Bathurst race.

What am I looking at?

What I can see is a whole heap of drivers no one has heard of driving a whole heap of foreign cars no one is interested in at a race track world renowned for having probably the best car race in the world that on this day has no crowd watching the race.

Not wanting to be a smart arse but there is virtually no one watching trackside in that footage. Hell you go to the proper Bathurst race and you are getting your good seats 3 days before the race and the place is packed.

No idea who the driver was, but it was a humble several year old supra from lower classes that took it out though sustained and reliable effort. It out done the big boys by screaming best it could All Day Long! ... unexpected mechanical performance instead of the same cars with driver/team versus each other, in pie in the sky non realistic cars.

To me the driver doesn't mean so much as to everyone else I guess.

End of the day it's still the same as for the roman sheople back in the day. Feed them s#it, keep them in the dark, and provide plenty of braindead entertainment like chariot racing to keep everyone occupied and entertained, so they keep eating their s#it and not being bothered with the boring injustices that go on right before their eyes. I support local sport like footy and real people whom Play, but no interest in AFL and celebrity comercialism.

So I entertain myself with things like Pinball, Dirt Circuit, and (if SBS puts it on) the Hi Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour. Or having a barbie on a weekend with family/friends.

*Chariot racing is too Boring without the chance for Spectacular Crashes... are you saying V8Supercars don't have crashes? :lol

Yeah it hasn't the same oppertunity to exploit peoples money, it has little commercial value, the capitalists don't like it. Of course the secret people don't like the commoner understanding Too much about technology advances, engineering, or electro/mechanical development, the focus Must be on celebrities not tech knowhow... the sheople might develop too much intelligence of their own :lol ... uh oh!

I love it anyway, and I don't see your argument sorry @Autosteve...

I do apologise... Maybe I lean the way I do because of my distaste for the capitalists, and their fascination with the promotion of the nonsensical "perpetual growth" .... and "wanton waste and destruction".

That's all. I do realise I am in the minority these days :lol

6 hour is ridiculous and for reliability and probably explains why the cars that won did although I seem to remember hearing the race was shortened through rain?

This was a "24 hour" production car endurance race at Bathurst and this was the outcome. These two locally made cars smashed all the imports and did it quite convincingly....

Sit back and enjoy fast production cars racing after 23.5 hours of hard racing and still racing each other like this and you may understand why I think the way I do. Fast , hard racing by a pair of HRT prepared 427 V8 powered 2 door Monaros.

These cars were going to be available for sale to the public in fact nearly 400 were pre-sold but the government stepped in and the buyers were given the choose of 4 wheel drive versions or down graded versions.

Allegedly some did make it out the door and in the hands of the public so that would make these cars true road going vehicles that won this 24 hour production race wouldn't it.
