I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members drive. Anything interesting or out of the ordinary. Past or present.

This was my favourite car from the past. A 1973 GTR Torana. Owned her for over 10 years and sold her on Ebay last year.

:lol

The ol' wanker wing! Apparently a GOOD wing on a sedan will generate about 40 kg of downforce at 200 km/h. The function is exponential to speed, so at 100 km/h (which is more like the speed you would tend to be doing) the downforce is maybe 6 or 7 kg. Put another way, about 10 litres of fuel. So to have the same pressure over the back wheels at highway speed AND be more streamlined, all you need to do is keep 10 litres more fuel in the tank than you normally do! Or a Bessa block in the boot :D

I'm laughing at myself here too. I had an LJ Torana that I thought I was doing up, and it had an even more useless 'wing'. You know, those lil' tail things that you see on the XU1's and all that...

:)

HA! My first car was a 1968 4 door Cortina like this one. Only not as nice looking as that. $150 I paid for it (",)

Pick is with her old numbers, new numbers are boring old squares with number in to meet regs.

Cooper S with a shitload of work done to her, goes like the clappers :D

Actually the STi wing was better than the stock WRX wing on the 99/00 models because the stock wing was right in the middle of the rear screen and was a pain to see through. By adding the STi wing you ended up with more visibility. Not that this has anything at all to do with why most people fitted one.

I like this car. Very nice!

I don't understand what you meant about numbers though.

The number 37 on the side does not meet CAMS regs (i.e. not in a square block of white), I managed to get away with it for a while but heard the scrutineers for one of the hillclimbs I was entering was a bit tight on that, so she's just got a white square with the black 37 on the doors now.

So it's only V8 Supercars that are allowed to have proper race numbers? I thoght CAMS must have finally woken up to themselves.

Anyhow here's my Falcon ute. It's an AU2 with an XR nosecone I got at the swapmeet and some Fairmont alloys.

I use it to tow my other Falcon, except at the moment it looks a lot more beat up (I had fun the last time I raced it)

i miss my 79 commodore i bought for $400

gear shift linkage would shit into some unkown gear spot, each panel was a different shade, cardboard door panels i made my self inside out of packing boxes, drivers door that you had to lean on to open and bonnet that was warped

i had some many crashes, full vehicle searches, fines, breakdowns, burnouts, and rally driving plus good times with the mrs on the front passenger seat

sadly traded it in on a 2k min deal to get my pulsar

So, just taking that thing off altogether wouldn't give you even MORE visibility? :unsure
