VPX setup download

While I am sure many appreciate what you were sharing, such packs etc. are really hated within the VP community by many of the main players. There have been a number very talented table (re)creators leave the scene due to problems created through people sharing packs.

There are a number of reasons for this. It is partly due to an increased chance that those who own the copyrights will come down on them, partly out of wanting respect for the effort they put in (hundreds of hours per table recreated for a good recreation and even more for an original) and downloading a pack means you don't have the opportunity to thank them on the site they choose to upload to. There is also those who dedicate a lot of time helping people get their setup working and it is apparent that those who download these packs often don't know how to set them up properly and want more help than someone who has worked through it all. Some people will argue/discuss these concerns over and over and unfortunately, like I already said, some who have plenty to offer, will just walk away.

It doesn't really matter whether you agree on the reasons, but not upsetting those that keep the community going is important. There was an old pack shared on this site a number of years ago (very very outdated now) and it still brings up some discussions from time to time. It just sheds a bad light.

VP is a very different beast to MAME and the people in the community see things differently, although I do remember arguments about sharing packs for MAME years ago as well even eBay wouldn't allow you to sell an arcade machine with games (except for dedicated games).

Thanks for trying to help by sharing and making it easier for others, but it's really best not to. There is a spreadsheet that links to pretty much all available VP games and is the best way to find what you are after and build a collection. To find the spreadsheet, look up Visual Pinball Spreadsheet on Facebook.
