The huge inserts can be an arse to get right. I found the easiest way was to get the insert dead flat out of the playfield, (hairdryer the insert on a piece of glass), and once dead flat, put back in the playfield, after practice fitting, with woodglue and push the pointy end of toothpicks in between the insert rim and the lower insert shoulder cut in the wood to raise the insert where necessary. Flash with it's flash bulbs that were know to jam on and warp the insert was common.
If toothpicks are to thick on the tip, lightly sand down till the insert sits perfectly flat. Toothpicks to thin, add more to get the height right. Leave for a week or so and snap the exposed toothpicks off flush after the glue has set both the toothpick ends and insert in place. I always thought it a better approach to sand the lip of the insert that goes in the playfield out of sight than sand the playfield side because you can always pack the underside up till flush using the toothpick method even on small inserts although small inserts you use a pair of long nose pliers to push in the shortened toothpick.

The wife has all these paints..
So if she doesn't help me finish the touch ups this weekend I will have to trade her in for a new one..lol

I spent $60 on some new paints and they're not what I would need to complete it. Doh
