Possum Twilight Zone

Recommended Posts

For those not familiar with the term 'possum pin' please go here for the background story.

I actually sold this particular twilight zone as it was beyond repair and someone wanted it for the boards. Years later, I ended up buying it back. A few pics of its recent state....

Then pulled all the nasty looking bits off the playfield. Cab is definitely unusable!

The playfield was actually too far gone with moisture bubbles all through a lot of the art. I bought another used playfield and savage weaved his magic on it.

More work with the wire wheel and polisher. Same posts before and after. I've not had much luck in the past polishing hex posts so have primed them and painted black which will match the powder coated wireforms.

And the wiring harnesses get a bath

Gona do this today. I see you've got a little light board in there? Are leaf switches and light boards okay to put in?

Lots of photos rob for the rebuild or do you have another TZ that you can work from ?

I've got plenty of photos on file for a previous TZ Resto. So just a matter of going backwards through them to put 20200906_161655.thumb.jpg.79dc35eeea5429d5637ba9dc153d1f04.jpg it back together. I've done a few of these how so getting a bit familiar with them!

These parts and some others taken to the powder coaters today.

I'm chasing the high power board (the one that is mounted under the playfield near the front of the machine). Let me know if anyone has one please.

If you don't manage to pick one up locally, Marco and K's Arcade have replacements boards available

That's awesome Rob. Even though many things couldn't be salvaged/saved, what a huge effort to restore this machine in the condition it was. I love seeing the 'before' and 'after' pics. Nothing like the satisfaction you get knowing the work involved to bring things back to near new again. Thanks for posting.

I'd love to put my wiring in the dishwasher but just don't have the balls to do it. Plus if I did, the Mrs would try and remove such balls from my sack.

I chatted to my wife and she was quite happy. As long as I ran a wash through afterwards. She's a legend!
