AskJacob
There is a fair bit of info here at the 'official home page' http://www.users.on.net/~spaners/Coconut%20Island/index.html I reckon we'd all like to see some new updates;) Cheers
pinnies4me
Yes, it's been a little quiet on the Island, what with the cold weather and all, the tourist trade is down so coconut collection is way off, and the Catalytic Coconut Converter has barely enough coconuts to keep the lights on let alone power up the pinball non-factory... ;) Truth is last week we picked up what was planned to be the donor game for the next installment in this project only to discover that it was way better than expected and all too rare to stuff around with, so it's being restored instead. As for the original development machine, things slowed a lot when it came to artwork etc - once the technical side was licked I guess the challenge was all but over for nuggy, hence the second game which will be built including all artwork before its premier. The intended donor game would have kicked this along really quickly, but will have to wait until another comes along. A bunch of toys for the second game are already acquired, and the playfield layout under development. Includes a special ramp shot that jumps the ball into a horseshoe shaped return channel that should be fun (ball return will be random one side or the other but either will lead to a sweet spot potential shot) and it will also have a "revolutionary" mini-playfield that can be tilted to direct the ball travel in both X and Y axis! If you're keen on the technical side (which I do not pretend to have a handle on the way nuggy does), the article in pinball news (just click the home page link) has quite a bit, and otherwise PM nuggy. Thanks for the kind words on the project!
Nug
yeah its the off season around coconut island at the moment, and with the price a barrel of crude coconut oil will bring (some of the islanders are using it to power their vehicles !!!) theres not much left for liberal application.... :D i have 2 ways to move forward and im still debating with myself which of these is best long term, one gets me a playfield pretty quick but it then becomes one off, the other way allows multiple runs and also is very easy for npct002 (nicks game) ive also been rehashing some music stuff and also yet more audio/speech call slots :D (can never have too many it seems) this was also looking to be required for the next title. and my non-factory is FUCKING cold. :( regards and cheers for the kind words. maybe i should move the non-factory to the interior of the corporate building ! :lol

Nug
its more time expended when the other way lends itself toward less time expended in the long run...if that makes sense.

ktm450
I think I nearly put an premature end to Coconut Island and the new project. I nearly run Nuggy over yesterday when he was crossing Malop st. Sorry dude if that was you, you were walking a little faster than I thought Whoops!:073: I'll let you pay me back by whooping my ass on HS2:D
Nug
indeed. on the island time runs at a more leisurely pace. :D i thought it was you, but you drove past timezone, so then wasnt sure! :lol have you checked out if they have some new pins by chance? Yeah, played a few games on it then it went out of action for a few weeks, a ball was stuck on the mini playfield under one of the ramps. Typical Timezone cant even whip the glass off to fix it:confused: Condition: needs a good clean, a couple of new rubbers and stewie motor needs fixing, but other than that all good. I really got a blast out of it. So many quotes from the show! At least the legs are on securely:badgrin Put a credit in it the day you saw me, I got the replay 3 times, it must be set fairly low if i can get it:lol
AskJacob
That bugged the hell outta me - the machine didn't detect the mini pf is boned. So every time you started the stewie pinball mode... you were stuck, and had to power cycle or tilt, and wait, and wait, and wait. That really ruined it for me at Timezone @ Goldcoast. 1st time I was there for work, played like a dream, I owned GC and loved it. 2nd time was with the wife, and after telling here how awesome it was... we both walked away infuriated by it:x Hijack off! PS Nuggy: Ensure good compensation rule support!
nickavitch
I was up on the Gold Coast a few months ago and the family guy played fine but the spiderman was doing some weird shit (bug in the programing i think). When I notified the staff, the on duty managed arrived and was quite knowledgeable( not to mention giving me 5 credits for notifing him). Couldn't fix it though. Same thing happened in Geelong, alerted manager of a couple of problems & he gave me 10 bucks on my card.Said he was getting techs to fix problems the next day, needless to say that top fipper is STILL not operational 6 months later! Nug
bit of an update: coconut island will be the only npct that is hand routed, so therefore work will now proceed onto final playfield, this is the final inserts/artwork and clearcoated one. this will make this game appear more quickly, but the second one more slowly  now bit of a side issue...whos knows anything about underseal/paint/clearcoat compatabilities ? the clearcoat was going to be (still is?) a thinned down polyurethane hard floor clear, its called 'diamond tough' (?!) for those who can assist... now back to your regular program. :D
LOTR4U
Do you have any plans to add artwork? :unsure Do you have any budding artists in mind? :unsure
pinnies4me
Nuggy is a pretty decent artist, so will be doing quite a bit. My sister is an accomplished fine artist and will be lending a hand, and may be doing the artwork for the translite. But if there are any artists out there - speak up! JRS
I have used clear floor finish on a playfield before, and did quite a bit of research prior. I used (from memory) Cabots clear floor?? which worked really well, and after 3000+ games is still standing up brilliantly. The reason I selected this product is that it is a water based clear and does not yellow which the oil based polyurethane finishes do. Having said that, I am about to have a playfield clearcoated in 2pac as it provides a harder and more durable surface. Why would you not use 2pac clear? Nug
i dont know much about products of this nature, that would also mean someone else would be clearing -and thats not in the budget !
