GAME LINEUP

It is intended there will be 11 banks of 2 arenas available for events. Caps will be set around these numbers.

The Mini League will have it's own 3 arenas in addition. These will only be used for Mini League Qualifying, until the period has closed.

There will be some new games this year. Similar numbers to last year, maybe a couple more. That would be 25-27 machines in the venue for the event. For more specific details and updates about the Arenas check post.2 .

ASSISTING TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS

Thank you to Steve Dite and Colin Tattoli, who will also be Tournament Directors for the weekend. TD's can not make ruling on matches they are playing in.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

-Due to the flooring conditions, "slide saves" are generally prohibited. Games might slide or move in some cases without tilting, but only a limited amount is acceptable. There will be a clearly visible tolerance set, within which the feet of machines may move. If a player does move a game and it rests within the tolerance, it will be their choice to make if they want to gently move the game back to its central original position, or play on with the reduced tolerance, both have risks. The best idea is to try to not move the feet at all. Multiple competitors should be observing other players in their match as much as they can. If any part of a machine foot overlaps the floor marking (as determined from the information at hand, by a TD) then the player will receive a penalty, and the machine moved back to its original location immediately by a Tournament Director. If a player moves a machine but does not exceed the tolerance markings on the floor throughout the ball in play then they are safe, if this happens and the machine is not left central by the player, players in the match should ask a Tournament Director to move the game carefully to its proper location with consideration for the next players tilt actions. The offending player May Not correct a machine that is staged for the next players ball in play, only during their Own ball in play. Other players in the match are expected to report witnessing a slide infringement. Tournament directors will observe as much as possible, but can not be everywhere at once.

-Unreasonable, violent, or potentially damaging treatment of games will incur a penalty. This includes "slapping" of the glass. Hitting the side of the cabinet; Only because it is so hard to put a definition "don't do it Hard", we are going to ask people not to hit the side of the cabinets please. Nudging is encouraged! . Try to learn from your tilts. Be respectful to others and the machines. All at the discretion of Tournament Directors.

-It is a family friendly environment. Lewd, distressing or offensive vocal outbursts will incur a penalty. This is at the discretion of Tournament Directors.

-Arguing with any expressed final ruling of any of the Tournament Directors will incur a penalty. This is at the discretion of Tournament Directors.

-Penalties: First penalty minimum is a zero result for the match being played. Second penalty minimum is exclusion from the Event underway. Third penalty minimum is exclusion from the series. At the discretion of Tournament Directors, up to Two Penalties may be issued for a single infringement. Be advised to treat the event as though there is only one warning/penalty available, potentially, before being disqualified from the entire weekend. In the event any penalties are issued these will be recorded in a log for reference by Tournament Directors, and the player receiving the penalty will be required to initial the record to verify that they have been notified of the penalty and the reason for it. Refusing to initial the penalty record keeping log can incur additional penalty, or outright exclusion from the series.

-Warnings: 1 May be given, in lieu of a penalty, at the discretion of Tournament Directors. For borderline cases, exception rather than rule.

-Multi-player matches will not be split for any games that may feature the ability to "steal locks".

-Finally, Nudging is encouraged! . Reasonable, well timed, skillful nudging is a big part of pinball! . Try to keep within the tilts, don't be excessively rough with the machines.... and have fun! :)

This is all about nurturing a fun and friendly tournament environment for all players, and the penalty system is stated up front in the interests of awareness. If past events and the positive attitude of regular attendees is anything to go by then the log aught to gather cobwebs over the weekend, and never be brought out, that would be a great outcome!. Penalties are there still, and clearly outlined, to keep all players in check. I will say that some of the admittedly rare borderline behavior that has been reported (after the fact) in some past events may not be slipping under the radar without a penalty anymore. Just putting that out there as fair fore-warning. We will have additional Tournament Directors to help ensure nothing is missed.

ACCOMMODATION

From the outset I will state that if you do need accommodation book it as early as possible or risk facing No Vacancy! ... This is why the thread was started as early as possible, be sure not to dilly-dally about with accommodation if you are even considering attending from out of town. Do Not underestimate the capacity for Spontaneous Nyrstar Furnace Shutdowns (or any other unexpected events) to occupy All Available Accommodation in town for A Month Or More, at the bat of an eyelid!!. .... BOOK NOW!, you can easily cancel if it turns out you can not make it.

We have organised a Mini-League so that the Finals for it will run in conjunction with the other events over the Bowland Pinball Challenge weekend. Qualifying will close late on the Saturday night, and Finals will be the last event of the weekend. Entry will be separate to the rest of the weekends events, in that it is coin drop entry.

This will mean we are fitting 5 IFPA events into 48 hours. Even so it all still fits fairly comfortably, and still generally with good tgp.

@digger48 is going to organise the registration and games lists in the coming week. Registering interest helps us with planning the event.

Intending to submit events to IFPA by the end of the week.

Anyone, from anywhere, with any thoughts on the formats or schedule it would be great to hear what you think!

Within a week the formats will be locked in and we won't be able to make any major changes.

With barely a month to go before the first Bowland Pinball Challenge kicks off, things are only going to get busier from here on in. I know how time flies! ... anyone interested in coming along give us a shout out if you haven't already!

What does everyone think about the prospect of the date of the events being put back a few weeks?

It makes it hard when event conflicts pop up at the last minute, so I guess need to be considering options, which include sticking with the date set at the beginning of the year, or postponing to a later date. The events have been on the IFPA Calendar for some months, but I'm sure it is not too late to make alterations if we act now.

Not wanting anyone to be put out whom may have already organised time off etc. , but thought I would put it out there to see what anyone else thinks.

Cheers!

Edit:-

**The date remains as the originally planned date an nothing changing.
