Hey guys,
Organising what will be the first of hopefully many Brisbane SHMUP meets.
Time: Saturday 13th February, kick off around 5ish in the afternoon.
Location: Holland Park, Brisbane. I will PM my address to attendees.
Details: 8 candy cabs with a SHMUP on each cab. Some will be PCBs, some will be GroovyMAME. I will finalise a games list by next week. SHMUPS will be a mix of Japanese style and American style and also horizontal and vertical.
There will also be an Atari Tempest cabinet, Donkey Kong cabinet and a Point Blank cabinet for other arcade goodness in between SHMUPS. There are some pins to play as well, but obviously won't be the main focus of the meet.
Comp format: the plan currently is as follows. For the first hour or so (while we wait for everyone to arrive) cabs will be available for practice games. After that, everyone will play each of the 8 games to set a score which will be recorded in Matchplay software. After all the scores have been entered, a victor will be crowned. What's the prize you ask? Well, that's up to attendees. We could do a $10 entry fee and winner takes all. Or we could just make it a friendly comp with the victor gaining the eternal respect of their peers
Please add your name to the thread if you would like to attend. I reckon we need 10 people for a good meet.
EDIT: Just to note. While all of my cabs function fine and look good, they are not fancy pants collector cabs. Some have average sticks and buttons etc. Just don't expect Japanese collector quality
