If the ones you're looking at on eBay are the HSP branded ones, be aware that these are a cheaply built product and tend not to last. You can also get them direct from Hong Kong for much cheaper than Aussie eBay sellers are flogging them off for. For a 15 year old a cheap HSP might be suitable though, just be prepared to spend lots of money on spare parts.

That's one of the main things to look at when purchasing any RC car, ensure that spare parts are reasonably priced and readily available.

Moved this into RC thread, as it will attract more RC minded people for you Gorgar

I agree with the HSP comments, they are cheap. But ive had mine for near a year and a half and its still going strong. $17 gearbox replaced is all.....but if you do go down the HSP track, TIGHTEN AND LOCKTITE EVERY SCREW

Yeah its the HSP model looks ok for the money as most here in hobbie shops are near $500 and parts are avalible.

                These are great:
Axial SCX10 1/10th Trail Honcho 4WD Electric RTR Rock Crawler w/ 2.4GHz Radio
He can join even a club if he really likes the rock crawlers with one of these.

So many extras to make for the crawler, sleeping bags, guns, jacks etc etc etc
