  • Best BIOS firmware to use with Aladdin Xbox modchip?

    Heya!

Just wondering what the best BIOS would be to use on an aladdin modchip (I need LBA48 mode supported to put in a 500Gb drive). It currently has X2 4983.67.

I assume it takes 256k sized BIOS?

M8plus is the latest bios. There is a version for the Xbox 1.6 too.

Yes, most modchips only need a 256K bios.

If you aladdin is socketed I can send you over a chip preflashed with a bios which will work for any model and give you F and G drives if you have a large hdd.

In a programmer is it has a 49lf020A chipset in it. If its a 49lf020 then it will flash easy with the evox cd.

            Thanks.

I ended up using the BIOS' on Slayers install DVD. Worked fine. (Tried M8Plus, then settled on X2)

xbpartitioner whinged about not supporting LBA48 but the 500Gb I installed seemed to format fine with 32kb clusters for F drive.

Not really a good idea formatting as a large F drive. Your much better off using a G drive for the extra space. Way too many stories of corrupt files from large F installs out there, but if your not keeping anything on there that your worried about loosing I guess it doesnt matter.
