  • What is your favourite Classic Multiplayer PC game?

Just wondering if there would be interest in people playing some multiplayer games if I set up a network of computers.

    Games could include:

    Counter-Strike
    Diablo II
    Starcraft
    Warcraft 3
    Command and Conquer

    Which games did you play?

        Age of Empires 2
        Duke Nukem 3d
Quake 3 Arena (never got tired of the nuke )

Another different but really cool game (could be buggy at times) was Hidden & Dangerous. Great tactical squad based co-op mode (up to 4 players from memory) and very hard to master.

Quake 1, quake 3 arena, Doom II, Worms (any), Command and Conquer (an earlier one). L4D over Left 4 Dead 2, but both are a bit modern to be considered 'classic' yet.

Titan Quest & DOTA are both good games for lan play as well. We also used to play Joint Operations which was a good co-op fps. Obviously older games but cheaper to setup too. CS:S is definitely a favourite.

All the listed games are great (big C&C and AoE fan) but for me it is without a doubt, Delta Force Black Hawk Down......I've been playing it since it was first released and still play it 3 or 4 times a week (LAN and online). sure the graphics can't compete with the modern games like BF4 & COD5 but the game play is evenly balanced and controls are simple and easy to master.

I would have to put my hand up and say C&C is my all time favorite series of games, and still load and play occasionally.

Good to see there is still interest in these games. I have about 40 PCs (all identical P4 2.8) which I can use.

Let me know if you need any secondhand hardware donated Danny. Have a couple of small rack mount cabs, switches, cables, PCs etc. that are surplus to my needs and happy to donate for a good cause.

Thanks, I may take you up on your offer. I may have the hardware user-side but nothing server side apart from adsl 2+ modem. There is a server cupboard but didn't take notice if there was racking or not.

                              Cheers.
