dmworking247
Looks good narf, should tidy up well. Can I suggest that 'extra room' above the screen could be used to make a backlit marquee underneath the glass? (ie cut out a hole in the frame thats holding the monitor, put a print over it). It'll make use of that space above the monitor and make up for it not having a dedicated marquee area.
AskJacob
Hmm the wiring has to be the tidiest I have seen on a "just received" cab in a while! Normally a mess of splices and electrical tape unvolved :lol Any reason you need to do a full rewire? Cheers Jacob
spacies
Nice score Narf. Looks very tidy! Great idea DM about the marquee. Looks odd the way it is.

There's NO scratching around it from all the drunken players missing the coin slot.
narf_
cheers dale on my original one i made a custom bezel that neated that area up. i am thinking of doing something in that area since my last one (perhaps custom light box) the operator i got these off used to be very anal about how they did wiring. everything on there cabs was molex plugged so you could take out sections of wiring to repair without taking apart the entire machine. CP is off to powerdcoaters next week if there open still. coin mech works great too jacob it is custom wired to suit poker pcbs. so that is why i plan to rewire

dmworking247
Hey Narf, a kind of unrelated question: In your thread title you said "caberet". I've noticed many people using this word (as opposed to cabinet). I was under the impression that "Caberet" (pronounced cab-er-ray) was a singing and dancing show? Is this a (common) typo or is it a word I'm not familiar with used to describe mini cabinets or something?
spacies
Dunno why but it is a reference to mini style cabs. Throw it into google. Robotron Cabaret.
dmworking247
Dunno why but it is a reference to mini style cabs. Throw it into google. Robotron Cabaret. How bizzare... all these years I've thought it was a typo. I think I'm going to stick to 'cabinet' though, I cant get the singing/dancing show out of my head :)

AskJacob
My guess was it was a fancy market-spin name for the smaller style cabs in the 80's - to try and "class" them up to get into hipper clubs/bars... Cheers Jacob (inventing history instead of researching it :lol)

narf_
yeah DM it is a odd name but makes them stand out when you mention them for example if you didnt call it a caberet compared to a gun cab people would think its just a cab http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/optimus_narfunkle/P3290597.jpg

narf_
cheers jacob for correcting my spelling i also need a mod to change the title to 60in1 (i ordered from china the 60 for a just a bit more) new buttons arrived from jaspar today :). comming along nice now. i knew the spare marquee sticker would be handy someday http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/optimus_narfunkle/PB260106.jpg covered in my starwars quilt cover when not working on it :lol http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/optimus_narfunkle/PB260107.jpg up close. i only just came up with the idea of making a overlay last nite after cleaning up the old one and the paint came off it. does the trick to neaten it up on the cheap powercoaters are going to be a few weeks so atm it is painted. in the future i will get it done proper but the wife is hopefully wanting it in the lounge room so for now paint is fine Edited December 22, 2008 by narf_
