  • Asteroids restoration

    This is my latest project, a LAI Asteroids restoration.

    Nomaly I try to preseve the 'Used' look of the machine, but in this case the artwork has gone beyond the point of no return with most of the adhesive vinyl peeling (typical LAI) and the control panel paint work almost gone.

    So this time it will be a 'Back to new' or close to new restoration.

    So far things to be done are;

    Have the monitor fixed - One of the vertical deflection circuits are faulty so only the bottom half of the screen is visible.

    Have the gameboard and other electronics checked for reliability.

    Remove the LAI vinyl and either apply new black vinyl or paint the cabinet black

    Order repro side art, CP overlay & monitor bezel from the states and fit.

    Repaint/powdercoat metal work.

    Replace Buttons and source a pair of Atari start button short cones with switches.

    Plus many other litte things.

    oh how I envy u!!! I saw asteroids at the game on sow the other day. 1st time I have seen it with the original vector monitor. I was amazed. If anyone ever was to sell their asteroids cab I would b happy to oblige. Good luck with the restore champ.

              Best wishes with that project mate. That is a work of art and science that thing.
