How high can you fly …

    MGLXXXIX – Game 9 ~ Sky Kid

    Nominated by gamer: SectionZ

ROM WolfMAME 0.106: skykid (new version).

    Game Story:
A great fun game, features 40 levels of game play with increasing difficulty and longer missions, with multiple targets to bomb as you go along. Avoid on-coming enemy planes, ground fire and air-balloons. Nice feature in that if you are shot down you can hit the loop button repeatedly to get control back of the plane. Some hidden bonus features, such as shooting the three dancing girls that appear when you complete a mission they turn into flowers. Excellent music and the graphics are all in a cartoon style.

    Score Submissions:
Please make a new post for each score you post, with your score as the first line of your post, along with a screen shot showing your score and initials. This game finishes Sunday 9 June 2019, 7pm Sydney time.

Please make sure your settings are as above. No continues are allowed when submitting a score and must be played from the beginning of the game. No pausing. No auto fire allowed. No stitching of INP files with save states. Single player only. No cheats allowed.

Games can be played at the arcade. You must ensure the arcade operator has the game at the MGL game settings for the submission to be valid.

    GAME 9 … That’s a big bomb …

Never played before in the 13 year history of the MGL.

Never heard of this one but the “Blue Max” reference in the poster reminds me of an old C64 game.

Damn am I rusty at this one... I used to play the hell out of it on my PS2 bitd. Missed SO MUCH points. Should have gotten twice this score had I not fumbled the bomb.

Never seen this before - interesting! Can't remember the last horizontal shmup I played that has a right to left scroll. Quite cutesy and cheerful to play but brutal as well. I got 4000 or something on the first game. Took me a bit to register that the game had a life saving mechanic!
