I never played this much in the arcades, it was one of the older machines by the time I came across it.

At Westworld on George St in Sydney, in the summer of 1984/1985, I remember this game quite well. Westworld was factory owned by Taito in Japan. They setup in Australia as they had in the USA. They were one of the few companies that followed the copyright act and did not use bootleg boards. So they followed the company line, and had an Elevator Action that was quite popular in those days. It was a Taito game of course!

In fact it was no.10 in the Popularity Equipment Poll of Australia at that time. By the way, Taito Australia also had offices at 62 Gracie St, North Melbourne and 76 Abbotsford Rd, Mayne in Queensland. Did any of you go to those sites back then or do you know of anyone who maybe has? Some photos from that time would also be great ...

Elevator Action was in all of the arcades in Sydney, including Timezone and Orbit 600. Now it's up again in the MGL ...

Seen the title around for years but never played it; only a little of the C64 conversion. Lots to learn here. Happy to beat the default score at this point.
There's definitely some wacky hijinks to be had...
It takes quite a lot of working out and practice to do well in this game. The enemy agents have three stances that make bullet evasion quite an art form. One mistake and there is red paint all over your works ...
Beating the default score is a good achievement ...

I typically play on easiest (I think that's the MAME default)... my first credit on normal.

That haircut angle alone conveys so much!

It's a nice feeling to finally complete a level. Gets pretty frantic down the bottom with so many elevators operating.

I wonder if a tactic is to get some of those red doors at the bottom, then take the car, then the game takes you to the door you missed?

Aye, discovered that neat little idea in my session last night. I think I'd missed two red doors when I got down to the car for the first time. Got a shock to find myself right next to one of 'em!

I'd never have thought kicking dudes in the face in the dark would be so much fun! Setting traps is cool too. I also had to learn the hard way that one cannot duck in an elevator.

Back in the 80s, that was what I used to do for fun too. When the game starts, you can't shoot the lights out on the 1st level, but you can the next, and then it's karate time in the dark. It doesn't last long but kicking an enemy agent in the dark is 200 points. Dropping a lamp on an agent, a very tough task to perform, is worth 300 points. And doing all this blind folded is worth brownie points (just joking).

You gotta love video gaming, it's better than mowing the lawn or buying a new car.

You're right there, the picture tells it all. A picture tells a thousand words. Like one day, mother duck was sitting on her eggs and eagerly waiting for them to hatch. It felt like forever to her. "When are they ever going to hatch?" she sighed. "I am getting bored being here all alone with no one to talk to." Even her husband, Drake did not come to visit very much ... and on it goes, just like in the elevator, quack quack.

How did you go playing these games at your local arcade? Frogger is a fun game but can be a pretty short game. Frontline ramps up in difficulty pretty quickly (a Taito game, what else did I expect!!!). Then Taito throw in the tough Elevator Action. I am guessing back at your arcade, not many people were playing Frontline and Elevator Action for very long ... :
