Once again I do like this game it's different and fun and I enjoyed it BITD......but it rewards those who learn patterns and play it EXACTLY the same each time....I don't want to play the exact same game again and again so I will just bumble about getting pickled :030:

Interestingly DKong had original cabs of both QBert and Burgertime, but like me I don't think he was interested in committing the patterns to memory.

It's a great game and another fine selection for this MGL but I'm a bit with Rat on pattern play. Nowadays with enough processing power if I was writing games, aside from the fact I don't have the skill, I'd place a pattern detection algorithm in and stuff up the pattern bots.

But good luck to those who can grind out a huge pattern score anyway, nothing wrong with it for the game, the time and the way to play, just my view.

I'm with @Rat on this one. This is one of several games that got spoilt for me when I found out that pattern play was required for really big scores. I think I watched an INP after the last time we played it of someone's score from MARP, probably Rob's I'm guessing. No doubt there is skill involved, but I'd rather jam my testicles in a vice that do the patterns (and that's assuming I could do them anyway), looks very tedious to me. Each to their own I guess. Still don't mind this game, but I'm no chance of getting very far in this one.

For the record, I think Q*Bert is patternable but there are still enough randomness about it - but I'm not 100% on this. Either way, with Q*Bert I haven't got around to looking at pattern play, I just adlib it which is probably why I can't marathon it....yet...

I was going to ask this actually, I assumed QBert was patternable but really that is an uneducated guess, I will put this up for further discussion in the QBert thread as I am interested :)

Not mine. I've got some issues with submitting Burgertime scores anywhere. It's only happened twice. Once for a one life challenge on a now defunct site called snipercade that had some connection to TG at the time. The other was my MGL submission.

I've liked this game since the early 80's but only saw it once in a bowling alley in Fairfield, Sydney. In those days and up until the late 90's I couldn't beat the default high score. A former TG ref and world class burgertime player called JD Lowe posted a guide for the first screen on the old TG site. I learnt the game from that and some MARP recordings but I'm a long way from world class. Around that time someone who shall remain nameless on TG was making a lot of noise about people scoring high on Pacman using inp's or patterns from sites. Monkey see, Monkey do so to speak. As a result I decided to never submit a burgertime score anywhere because I didn't learn to play the game on my own. This is the only game I feel this way about but I can be a bit weird about some things.

I got to meet JD at Funspot a few years ago and thanked him for teaching me to play one of my favourite games. He wasn't expecting that. He told me at the time to submit something. Haven't done it yet.

Not playing tonight. Tired from a lot of overtime and have a couple of beers on board. I'll get to it soon

I'd like to be a kid again but this time around, I'd like it if zanderzone was my father. I suspect I'd be a much better gamer today had I had this opportunity. :D

I nominated this too but I don't know or play any patterns.

I'm not great at it, I just like the game.

I'm glad you don't play patterns, I enjoyed one game on it last night after a few ciders and just managed to get my name on the bottom of the scoreboard

Ha Ha! I always enjoy getting a top score on someone's cab.

If I remember correctly, there were a few beers on board at that stage. Perhaps that is the secret to this game - beer and burgers!

Blatant pattern play and definitely not how the programmers intended the game to be played. Should've had a new PB this game but made some mistakes early on. Very close to it though. Included screenshots of the 2 rollovers (before and after), the attract mode showing the final score and the high score table

Yessssssss!

I have been playing this game for so long and have never cracked the 100k.

That feels so good that it almost erases the memory of that awful elevator game.

If your father looked like this guy, you'd be missing a hand which would make many games rather difficult wouldn't it? SPOILER ALERT : Darth cut off his son's (Luke) hand. That is the limit of my knowledge of the Star Wars franchise :D

Havent got round tontryingbthis game yet but do like playing it. Those huge scores on this and Qbert have me scratching my head. The idea of patterns when playing a game seems so far from what my brain is capable of doing for such a long time to acheive such scores. Just dont think i have the discipline to be able play for such a time i get board very easily ha ha ha ha beed something different to happen. Well done to those that can as it takes somethibg very special to do I imagine!!
