I have a rom that shows up as qix (set 1) in my old mame32 v71b, but shows up as qix (rev2) in mame 0.148 and 0.153b
Is this rom alright to use?

Oh no. Oh please no.
I'd go so far as saying this game is worse than crush roller.
I remember playing this for the first time in the Atariage mame contest in 2011. The one submitted score is already higher than my best . Yeah dont expect much from me this round.

I wonder if this will drag lexmark out of his hiding spot - I believe he is somewhat of an expert on this one.

I used to like playing this one BITD, never got much further then the first double Qix level.
Now to see if not having to pay to play helps me improve.

I guess so. I can see the qix (set 1) on two sites for ROMs. Then there is qix (set 2) and qix (set 3) which we are not using.
So if the ROM files you use and see as qix (set 1) in mame32v71b is exactly the same ROM set you copied to mame 0.148 and 0.153b, it's good to go ...

Thanks, to be doubly sure I downloaded a new rom, qix(set 1), and it did the same thing.

That makes two of us. I've been calling it Quicks for 28 years and I will continue to call it QUICKS Spell it how you mean it Taito.
