My youngest daughter and play all the Metal Slugs on the Neo Geo, usually from start to finish on a several fist fulls of credits. How anyone gets from start to finish on one credit in some of these versions is beyond me

It's 5th on my high score list, other games on there are from past games with continues.

Managed to get to second level boss. Probably my best with 1 credit. Will be interesting to see how far everyone gets over the 2 weeks.

Never heard of it John73? that really surprises me as it was popular enough to spawn about 8 sequels, I played it the other day with my son, we did many continues but I did wonder at the time what it would be like to play on just one credit solo. I prefer to play one credit on most games, it's an 80's thing I suppose.

If I saw any game with the Neo Geo logo I ran a mile because I knew the game was probably going to cost $1 to play and that I'd at most get 30 seconds of game play out of it :lol

And I'm like you, I was a 1 credit person - I can't say that I ever used continues BITD - I want the most time playing for my money - I was either a cheap bastard or I didn't get much pocket money :)

One of those games where it is very hard to get a screen shot of your score after dying unless you're in the high score table - so I'll be F12'ing like an idiot to get a score in on this one, any game 2 buttons is beyond my scope - put three buttons in and I'm basically useless :lol

Your wit has me in stitches sometimes ... :lol ... like now ... I thought the F12'ing stood for something else ...

Metal Slug if you can, life is a war ... Metal Slug yeah!

Surprisingly, I am actually liking this game. They've really outdone themselves on the GFX, very pretty. Sometimes I like to think about what would have happened if a game looking like this had been released in 1981, probably make a billion in a week ;)

I was always impressed with the Neo Geo stuff - massive amount of graphics & memory grunt behind their games - would have cost more than the space shuttle to produce in 1981 though :) I think Baseball Stars was the only Neo game I ever played (and sucked at), drawn in by the fantastic graphics.

I agree the graphics and art design are exceptional. Even by today's standards, the attention to detail is very good and the game is extremely popular.

I mean up to Metal Slug 6 I think?

A site I cannot mention has this game as no.11 on the all time download list.

Not impressed? ... then Metal Slug 3 at no.7 all time.

Still not? ... then Metal Slug 6 at no.4.

What, still not! ... Metal Slug 5 at no.2 ... 1,063,444 downloads.

Metal Slug till you drop ... it's carnage and it's fun ...

Never heard of or played this game before. So what is the back story, I'm figuring with the name Metal Slug it has something to do with a guy with a prosthetic penis? :unsure

I used to play this at the fish and chip shop while waiting for my order. Added quite a bit to the cost of the food I can tell you! You have to admit, lovely looking game, eh? I have it on my Neo Geo Pocket, it's a must have for that console as it would be for the Neo Geo consoles I imagine (",)

Now to put the ROM on my cocktail cab so I can play it...

i love the slugs.. go to games of choice for a bit of 2 player mayhem with trashtalk and a beer.. tho the usual approach of just spanking the continue button like it just put a honey sandwich in my vcr has left me little prepared for this comp..
