Love the reference to a Telex # here - how many people even know what a Telex machine is anymore?

Great point ... The telex network was a customer-to-customer switched network of teleprinters similar to a telephone network, using telegraph-grade connecting circuits for two-way text-based messages. Telex was a major method of sending written messages electronically between businesses in the post-World War II period. I was writing telex messages for the Australian Navy Supply in the mid 80s, and also from memory in Purchasing at another company in the late 80s. Then the fax machine turned up, now that was a HUGE improvement, the latest in technology. The internet for business wasn't there yet!
