    MAME button presses changing resolution?

    Hi all,

Have a PC running Windows xp, mala front end, 640x480 resolution, iPac connected to arcade 6 button setup, VGA directly to chassis (chassis VGA only) - monitor is Tri sync chassis running at 31khz

When I'm playing say marvel vs capcom and pressing all the punches at once (Sw 1, sw 2, sw 3) it changes the resolution of the monitor?

Sometimes it flips the screen. On reboot it boots in Unknown resolution which monitor displays weird - only way to fix is by formatting and reinstalling xp

    What could be causing this?

Sorry if vague what more info is required?

    Thanks .

Seems the iPac is "seeing" the combination button press as something other than you need?

Try mapping the buttons differently using the iPac software tool.

Thanks mate - googled after your reply - turns out Intel video card drivers have hot keys to flip monitor - witch were linked to Mame button presses

Remapped and problem gone - thanks a million!

Ha Ha, yep had lots of customers confused with this one when Intel started adding the hotkeys to their graphics years ago. Used to get calls by people thinking their computer went crazy as the screen flipped upside down suddenly!

By default I think Ctrl + Alt + Up, Down, Left or Right will flip or rotate the screen. Considering Mame has default keys using Ctrl, Alt and the up down left right keys it can cause all sorts of issues. If you right click on the Intel display icon on the taskbar you can easily disable hotkeys in the menu. Also remember to turn off sticky keys which will otherwise launch with multiple simultaneous presses of the shift key!
