    davefjedi,

Here is a list of games that support cocktail mode:

    Cocktail Dip Switch Games

I think you'll find that about 95% of these games are vertical orientated.

    Hope this helps.

This is a rather long and convoluted way of doing things, but it works for me. I've used it to copy just my vertical games out of my gamelist and stick them on a hard disk for my cocktail cabinet with vertical monitor.

      1) I use mame's output to generate a game "listinfo" in dat format:

      Code:
      mame -listxml | xml2dat > listinfo.txt
      2) Then I feed listinfo.txt into SortInfo:
      http://hem.passagen.se/robert.palmqv...downloads.html

      3) From there I sort by whatever category I like (in this case, orientation) and delete out the items I don't want. I then export to a .csv file.

      4) The .csv can be opened in Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice Calc, or a wide variety of other spreadsheet applications. I then copy just the game names and paste them into a plain text file. For the purpose of this example, lets call that file "vertical_games.txt". This file will simlpy be a list of games by romname, with one name per line.

      5) Let's assume my ROMs live in c:\mame\roms. Let's assume my list of vertical games is c:\mame\vertical_games.txt, and that I want only vertical ROMs copied to c:\mame\vert\roms. From the Command Prompt, I run:

      Code:
      for /f "delims=," %%I IN (c:\mame\vertical_games.txt) DO copy "c:\mame\roms\%%I.zip" e:\emulation\vert\roms
Likewise, if I want my snaps to come across for my front-end,

      Code:
      for /f "delims=," %%I IN (c:\mame\vertical_games.txt) DO copy "c:\mame\snap\%%I.png" e:\emulation\vert\snap
Now I have a complete collection of vertical-only games. The same logic can be applied to copy any sort of category you'd care for.

If any of that is too hard and you want me to generate any of these files for you, let me know and I'll post them up somewhere.

Hrm, after posting all that it occured to me that you are quite probably only requiring actual cocktail "flip" games, and not just all verticals...

Searching MAWS with the delux search and returning all vertical games that have 2 alternating players returns this:
      http://www.mameworld.net/maws/srch.p...tes=&has_rank=

There's a good chance you can use SortInfo to narrow down your selections also.
