  • Power Conversion from jamma harness.

    Hi,

I need some pointers on how to(i.e. what i need) to derive +5v, +9v, + 3.3v solely from the jamma edge connectors. I know that 5v is no probs though

The load is only 0.3amps on 9v and about 0.6amps on the 3.3v line. Also, anything i do is strictly size limited so the smaller i can do this, the better.

If its on a circuit, you could use power regulator ICs ... 7809 will give exactly 9V from the 12V line. Dunno if you can get a 7803 for the 3V.

These things are only 3 pins...input voltage (must be more than what your after), output voltage and common (ground).

For the 3.3V, you could use a LM317T. Same as above, but can be adjusted to the exact voltage you're after.

Dick Smith has both kinds of regulators quite cheap (7809=$1.20, LM317T=$2.10).

Most arcade and console PCBs use the 7805 to get exactly 5V. You will often see a fuse put just before the input voltage, because these things can only handle 1A.
...maybe, but then again "maybe" covers a lot of things, like: maybe Michael Jackson really is LaToya in drag, or maybe if Dorothy clicks her heels 3 times and says "There's no place like home" while she is at home, she would telefrag herself..." - MadMikeAU
