I am excited to announce the Mixed Video Arts Championship that will be happening at Rumble in the west on April 25th and 26th.

This comp is designed to measure your skills across a range of arcade games. Qualifying will be on Saturday the 25th of April from 1pm till Midnight. Final playoff will start at 9:30 am on Sunday 26th of April.

The qualifying format will be a card-based best game with each card comprising of scores from games across 5 banks.

Banks: (each bank will have 2-3 different titles)
    • Bank A: Driving / sports / Shooting (e.g. Daytona 2, Point Blank 2)
    • Bank B: Platform / Run n' Gun (e.g. Metal Slug 3)
    • Bank C: Shoot em' ups (e.g. Galaga)
    • Bank D: Beat em' ups (e.g. TMNT Turtles in time)
    • Bank E: 1v1 Fighters (e.g. Street fighter 2)
There are unlimited attempts, but each card must contain 1 score from 1 game from each bank.
Scores across all games will be ranked and points awarded based on those rankings. We will use PAPA style scoring (100, 90, 85, 84 etc.).
This means a top ranked score will earn 100 points, 2nd 90 points etc.

Qualifying time: Saturday from 1pm till midnight.

    Final Playoff:
The top 16 qualifiers will playoff head to head in a double elimination bracket until the winner is crowned.

    Game choice:
Playoff bracket starts Sunday 9:30am Sunday the 26th of April.

Players will be seeded based on qualifying positions with the top seed versing the bottom seed, 2nd seed versing 15th seed etc.

Once the players are paired, the higher seeded player will get first choice to determine what game is being played. However, they will choose the bank and a game from that bank will be randomly selected.
The lower seeded player will have a chance to veto 1 bank before the bank is chosen.
For the second game, the lower seeded player will have choice of bank, and the higher seeded player will veto 1 bank.
For the third game, the higher seeded player will have choice of bank, and the lower seeded player will veto 1 bank.

Due to increased public concern regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have made the decision to cancel Rumble in the West (Saturday 25th April and Sunday 26th April) refunds available for all tickets. We are very disappointed to have come to this decision because we have invested a lot of time, effort and money into this event, however we feel at this stage we have no choice.

As disappointing as this is, the health and well-being of our community comes first. We’d love to reschedule this event later, however things are too uncertain right now to make plans. We will keep you updated and we appreciate the support we have received.

We will stay active on social media; we love working on pinballs and arcade games so you can expect to see more of what we get upto.
