Just a little 'getting to know you'

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just curious what everyone is into outside of arcade stuff...and games and computers and crap like that :P

I'm a hardcore soccer fan/player. As well as most other sports you can name.

Also into my cars, full size and nitro rc's.

My current interest is body boarding, give me a few months and i will moved onto something else lol. (Previously camping/hikking, beer brewing just to name a couple)

Yes cars are good :)

I'm into pretty much anything holden lol. Own a VS commodore with the usual mods, exhaust, wheels etc. The plan is to get a SLR torana next year, that's the plan, chances of it happening... hmm 30/70.

I'm the biggest poser when it comes to music, i listen to it 24/7 so i know my stuff but i own a host of different guitars and couldn't play to save my life lol.

I like my toys and games, I play Battlefield 2 at least five nights a week. That was after finally I stopped playing Ghost Recon online for the past 4 years.

As for cars my preference is 4wds as spend one weekend a month away camping or touring and 2 to 4 weeks a year on longer trips through out Australia.

I have a shed that holds all my other ideas and interests as it is 90 Sq Metres under cover i have a lot of room to tinker, it houses a lot of half finished projects.

Cheers

Sean

Hi

I'm 24 chick from Victoria.

I'm a day shift manager at a hotel motel.

When not at work, which isn't that often I do a bit of clay shooting, water skiing and snow skiing. I'm a bit of a tomboy and just about to buy a new motorbike (xr200) and I have a hq monaro which nearly finished restoring.

Occassionally I go horse riding as I used to be a trackwork rider / strapper but gave it away at the start of the year after a lot of injuries and and being sick of the shit pay.

Hi Everyone - looks good over here. Big thanks to those responsible once again for their hard work!!

Like most others here I was into cars until recently. I've had 3 wrxs over the years all modified to varying degrees and then my last was a very highly modded GTR that I sold in April. I thought I'd miss the cars but not at all. I now don't have to worry where I park, bumpy roads, driveways etc. Got a ute and my dog usually rides with me in it, can throw a surfboard in the back....easy! I was car-jacked at gun-point in the GTR so that was a bit of a downer for me. Never felt comfortable enough to have my wife and 8 month old son in the GTR after that. Still got a Liberty GT not that it's fast though.

Surfing, pinballs and arcading are my passions now. Much healthier and cheaper!!

When I'm not at work fixing peoples/business's computers, I like to browse the net for personal interests (sport, mame, arcade, world events, technology, etc and play online Unreal Tournament against the Tombstone (mame) crew who are scattered across the world, (some dwell here). ;)

I have never owned a WRX :p

OK- The Wotto Story

Car- we own a fairy nicely modified PT Cruiser, now ..............................that is NO WRX I know, but it suits us.

Other stuff we enjoy- Jet Ski's ( Sea Doo) , Motorbikes( FAST Road bikes - not trail ), Rugby League ( coaching kids ) and AFL ( go you MIGHTY MIGHTY Swannies !) also I enjoy playing Tennis and Squash weekly.

Looking for an old GTR XU1 or a 2 door HQ or EH sedan to restore one day when I am old and wrinkly ( which AINT that far away-:( )

Obviously Pins and Arcade stuff too.

Cheers

Thankgod, for a minute there i thought i was the only one :P

Does that mean i can start up the old holden/hsv vs wrx? lol

Even though i'm a passionate holden owner, i have to admit the wrx is still a good bit of fun to drive but i've always been into my v8's.

I dunno though, my mate just bought a new base model wrx, and when your not giving it alot of gas, due to the very subtle interior and quiet engine it's easy to forget your in wrx and not just a base model impreza.

I now don't have to worry where I park, bumpy roads, driveways etc.

Not to mention the cops seem to pull you over every week for no reason lol.

My parents used to own a HK monaro and LJ torana, personally i think the HK is definately the pick of the lot. In torana's i like the look of the LH/LX i know they have been modified to death, but i've always just like the looks of them.

Sounds like i am the only soccer player here so far, I'd just like to say that Sydney FC suck. I'm not the type of person that usually says 'they should have done this...' or 'I could have done that..' But there the sorts of things that come to mind after last nights game.

Usually people that have WRX in their names are 15 year old kids that pretend their 30 and wish they had one, well from my experience on car forums anyway lol.

I was glad to see when i came over that you actually had one sitting in the driveway :)

Feel free but I won't bite. My last car before the Subaru was a HQ ute with a WB front end and a worked 350 Chev. Didn't like going into carparks in the city (too low)so had to get rid of it.

Even though i'm a passionate holden owner, i have to admit the wrx is still a good bit of fun to drive

After 6 years it becomes just a car...........until you get into something else. Then you remember why you love your Subaru!

Love the ute :) My mate has got one that looks very similar, not exactly sure which model.

What was the 350 like in terms of power and fuel usage? I'd so love to get one but the way fuel prices are going i think i would be insane.

I've always laughed at mitisbishi drivers (except for Evo's.) When mitisbishi tried to enter the V8 supercars competion despite the fact they don't even make a V8 made me piss myself laughing. Anyway my gf has a magna vrx 5spd manual which she has left with me for the week. My brother saw it out on the front lawn and laughed when i said it had a bit of bite to it. Despite the fact stock they only have 163kw (admiditly her's isn't stock) they are pretty quick, too the point where it left my brother eating his words.

The ute had some real grunt. It wasn't actually a 350. It was a 307 worked to 350 (the head on it were huuuuge) with gear driven cams (sounded like a supercharger). Being a 307 it was registered as a 5L too which made insurance a teeny bit cheaper. Within a week of buying it I had it converted to gas. It got about 5L/100km but gas was nice and cheap. Didn't have a stereo, wouldn't have heard it over the engine (especially on the freeway commute between Central Coast and Sydney every day). Always wanted a HQ ute and that sorted out my fix. Would I want it back, hell no!

My neigbour had a VRX and loved it. He's since had an SS and now has an XR8 (brand loyalty are words he's never heard of) but wishes he had his VRX back.

Do you lose much power converting a V8 to gas?

I know what you mean about the engine noise, i was so close to buying a 308 ss lx torana. I probably will get one just to get it out of my system.

I'm very impressed with the vrx, even though i will always be a holden person. My gf never has any trouble with it, unlike my commodore which in the last year has had a million little problems as well as being towed a couple of times. And things like build quality are so much better on the vrx.

Depends on the conversion. Autogas actually has a higher octane rating than petrol. So if you tune for it you can actually get a power INCREASE. Mine stayed about the same but because we tuned towards the gas but still allowed it to just run on petrol for backup. My gas mechanic advised me to leave a tank of avgas in it and it'd run fine on either gas or avgas but i chose to leave a tank of petrol in it for emergency and starting. It ran like a pig on petrol but didn't have to use much before swtiching to gas. Especially in cold weather you need to start on petrol then flip over to gas. The gas exchanger tends to freeze up if you try to start on gas, or at least they did back then.

In over 2 years of driving a black, modded body kitted out subie never been pulled over. Then again i don't hang out at petrol stations and go draggin on saturday nights. It really has to do with how loud your exhaust is and how you drive.

:D

Agreed. Other than the occasional RBT I've only ever been pulled over once when not doing anything unusual. In that case a car the same model and colour as mine had been seen with a group of young fools in it, driving down the main strip at The Entrance throwing ball bearings at parked cars. When they checked my rego and noticed it was only myself and my wife in the car they explained and apologised. And that's in 6 years of WRX ownership (well it will be 6 at Xmas).
