  • How to Subscribe to a Thread.

A lot of people seem to be unaware of how the thread subscription system works on AA so here's a quick tutorial. This only applies to accessing AA through your browser not third party apps like Tapatalk.

First off if you wish to receive email notifications from AA including PM's, Likes etc you must have a working email. If you're not receiving Emails from AA then PM me and we can change your email.

First off go to the thread/forum you wish to subscribe to and scroll to the top and look for "Thread Tools" then click on "Subscribe to this Thread"

    Attachment 150161
Then select one of the following options.
Most people will want to select "Instant Notification by Email".

    Attachment 150160
You can quickly access and manage all threads you have subscribe to through the "Quick Links" drop down at the top of the forum.
Depending on how your "Default Thread Subscription Mode" was set (more on this to follow) you may see hundreds of threads in the folder.

    Attachment 150158
On the right you can manage subscribed threads and change the way you receive notifications for them or delete them entirely.
Because my "Default Thread Subscription Mode" was set to "Through my Control Panel Only" I had accumulated thousands of subscribed threads without even knowing it.

    Attachment 150163 Attachment 150162
Now for that "Default Thread Subscription Mode" You can access it under "Settings" then "General Settings" scroll down to the Default Thread Subscription Mode.
    As per the description
When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.
Please use this option carefully. It is set to "Do not Subscribe" by default. The default used to be "Through my Control Panel Only" which is why without knowing it a lot of older AA members will find a heap of threads they have automatically subscribed to in their subscription folder.
I recommend leaving this set to Do not Subscribe otherwise it will automatically subscribe you to EVERY thread you have made or posted in however it is there if you wish to use it.

I hope this clears things up and helps AA members get the most out of the subscription system. If you wish me to clear all the clutter from your subscription folder and start from scratch PM me otherwise you'll have to delete them all yourself.
