There are a lot of versions of Tron out there, this is one of the best I've found:

http://vpinball.com/VPBdownloads/tron-legacy-stern-2011-pup-pack-edition-1-5-ssf-lightmod-1-2/

You don't need all the pinup player stuff to play it, I removed pinup player (found it too distracting) from my pc altogether and it still works fine. This version also incorporates Dozer's lighting mods he did to Terryred's release which are awesome.

Way too many versions of this table, Dedrok from memory it's a modified version of Hanibals that has had to OT lighting fixed. I gave up on tested all the versions for the best as I don't particularly like the table. And I haven't explored the PUP route so didn't bother with those.

My naming convention doesn't help keep track of table versions, but I stuck with it for easy updating, I don't want to edit xml files every time there is an update. I really do wish authors would put their name and version number in the script files.

Best.Theme.Ever.

The one I linked isn't Hannibal's, I don't think much of Hannibal's version of this.

The PUP 1.5 version is the latest version of this game and I think the best. It contains many improvements to physics and lighting that are seperate from the PUP stuff which you can remove.

It's a shame that the latest Stranger Things version is PUP-only, cause it looks really good, but I don't want to install PUP again. I don't understand why people have gone nuts for this full screen video on the backglass stuff, it's just a gimmick and does nothing for gameplay except make you lose the ball quicker :unsure

I know this is one of your fav's, and with so many versions it is a fav of many, but I haven't had a good game of it yet. I like the movie (although I prefer the original), that said I have yet to look at the rules for the table, as it just didn't grab me.

I'm actually looking at PUP now for Stranger Things, the whole PUP thing to me is a bit of fluff, but that said I even find the new Sterns rely too much on Video content.

The original Tron was such a landmark film I agree! But in terms of a quality film, for me Tron Legacy easily surpasses the original. Even giving allowances for a 28 year gap between the films, have you given the original a re-watch lately.... it's not easy to watch with the repurposed skate/hockey helmets and dayglo pinstriped jumpsuits. Maybe it was enjoyable for the mystique of computers in 1982.

I'm not a fan of the video backglass in the recent Sterns either or the JJP machines that used it before them. I suppose manufacturers feel the need to innovate and move with the times, instead of concentrating on making a great, fun to play game with a decent ruleset ?

does anyone still have a vp9 version they could upload/send to Bishop ? i've not kept any vp9's that were remade in vp10.

I re-watched the original before I watched Legacy, I didn't mind it, but you do need to lower your expectations, movie making back then was not as polished as it is these days. Go watch an early Mad Max :)

I did enjoy Legacy, but it didn't really break any new ground.

I just checked and I don't have a VP9 version sorry.

Yeah. Put up scores.

I have the vp9 version but canít upload.

You got ipac or ipac2? And do you use PS2 or USB type connecting.

I get absolutely no flipper lag with ipac 2 using winpac for mapping.
Same as keyboard so doing a keyboard hack is futile.

My best score on this, like all games I never read the rules I should start. Some games you can get decent scores by learning as you go but this game doesn't seem to be like that.

vpx players get the pinupplayer 1.5 version, the lightshow animations are very spectacular, i reckon amongst the best in vp. You don't need to run PUP, i just removed the pup exe files and the game doesn't play the videos. (that method doesn't work for Stranger things 2 unfort...)

Still don't dig this table, admittedly I have no idea what I am doing. Tried a few different versions, but the physics feel off in one way or another on each of them. I think I'm just spoilt by the newest releases.

This is the version Jed suggested, pup with no pup.

a quick search and his turned up on pinside, a tron 'cheat sheet' of rules.

https://images.pinside.com/a/7a/9f/a7a9fcd1c7d4ecf5468f327e271ab2263e4ccc2b.pdf

i don't find too much wrong with the physics, admittedly my admiration for this game is mostly due to the theme, cause i don't really know how to play it :) this sheet might help. i've never seen or played a real one, would love to, maybe way off in the future when i retire i'll try and find one, cause that's the only time i'd ever be able to afford one :( stupid pinball prices!

Those helped a little, as did the PAPA vid, but still unsure on a couple of things, and I suck at the shots off that top flipper.

Where the hell are the EB's on this table, out of half a dozen games I have fluked 1.

Honestly this pinup player. people rave about it, but its hack software that doesnt come with an uninstaller or a clean easy way to remove it. Grrrr

I am not seeing your problem, but I tend to agree, I don't think it's stable enough, every now and then when I launch stranger things the backglass program just hangs, I have to exit and terminate it with task manager.

Everyone was frothing at the mouth about the new frontend even before it was launched, if it is anything like PUP I don't think I'll be migrating, despite PinballX's issues it works fine for the most part.

Have you tried running the PinUpPlayerConfigDisplays.bat and making sure DMD is set to Off (disable)?

I love the idea of a new front end, but my level of trust in the pinup software is close to 0.

Still use HP.

Loads faster, looks nicer, 0 issues.

I use a version from blur that made mine perfect. A later version broke my setup so I stepped it back.

Pinball X may have more system usability, but I only use vp now.

If I do a W7 build then Iíll try PBX again.

Whatís this new fronted you speak of?

The new front end is by the same guy that did pinup player (i think) meant to be a lot more efficient and easier to maintain, faster than pinballx. I'm still not using a front end so I'll give it a try i think now I've solved my pinup problems and not filled with so much fear and loathing for it...

Yep same dude did both. http://vpinball.com/uploader/nailbuster/

I'm still not confident with PinUP, still had random hangs, so I'll wait for the bugs to be ironed out.

I use HyperSpin on my lowboy arcade machine, paid for gold access back in the day, but both HS and HP seem to be very stale, no updates happening, so when I built the pin last year PBX seemed to be the only safe bet. I am all for another option, but I want to wait to see the product, rather than get caught up in the hype.

Jed: Out of interest what was your fix?

it was my dmddevice.ini file. it didn't have the necessary lines in there to either enable or disable the virtual dmd.

After installing the pinup player - it set the virtual dmd on by default. (setting it in the config.bat for the pinup system doesn't change anything, as the dmddevice.ini seemes to over-ride it)

Just another one of the 40 billion things that can go wrong with a virtual pin. :D

It wasn't a short game :)

I agree on the ball spin and ramp issue, on the version I had (the one you got Dedrok), I ended up installing all the version of this table I could find, I had;

PUP-Pack Edition
Hannibal's Version
Draifet's Edit of Hannibal's Version
HauntFreaks' Edit of Hannibal's Version
The Version I already had (I thought it was HauntFreaks' Edit)

They all played a little differently, and all had pros and cons to it, but I found the "new" HauntFreaks edit was the best of the bunch, it is now my default.

Haha, its much more tamed down compared to Hannibal's :) I just don't like the physics on ICPJuggla's, they just feel off. Shame there isn't a REALY nice version, the table really did grow on me.

I had the quora shot dialled in, but that gem shot was BS :)

Could import the physics from Hauntfreaks's into ICPJugglas's for a mod of a mod of a mod :D

you'd be surprised, i've modded a number of Hannibal's tables with imported physics without touching other settings (apart from tweaking flippers maybe) for good results. Apart from how he butchered Tron into a Ken Done placemat, i've always liked his lighting but not his physics on other games like TWD and Star Trek LE.

I have tweaked a table to 2, TWD being one, but never had any luck exporting from one table to another. His early lighting wasn't too bad, but he has gone past good now, too much foggy glow, IJ Stern is another example of this. His physics have on the other hand have improved dramatically.

What author has most realistic physics do you think? Without checking I've liked Bord's and JP's.

Far as lighting goes lately it looks like g5k is taking over that crown. His rework of AFM lighting looks phenomenal, from that strobe multiball WIP video he posted, even if it was a render from outside VP, looked so real.

I would say most realistic physics off the top of my head would be wrd1972 and his LFHM (Low Friction High Mass) stuff is the business, some other authors use this now too. I am not sure if its just the tables he has chosen or if it is that realistic, but I find his table super hard.

g5k's T2 is the bomb, I am quietly optimistic about his AFM, the videos are awesome, but will VPX be able to mimic the same lighting, time will tell. I think most things by Tom Tower and ninuzzu are up there, this physics could be more realistic, sure, but their quality of work is very consistent. Really, any new tables released on the MonsterBash site seem to be a cut above.

I donít care about the look as much as the physics. Can look great but if physics suck, whatís the point.

If physics suck its out for sure, but I wouldn't say the above mentioned TT and ninuzzu physics suck, just that they are not as realistic as some of the other authors. As long as it plays well, feels right and does have spastic ball spin I am usually pretty happy, I don't need it to be identical as the real thing, hell I don't mind it being easier either :)
