I am bored with BF2 and I am looking for a new game that must have the following.

First person shooter
It must suit my slower reactions
Online play with Australian servers and plenty of people playing it
Varied game play
Not BF2142

My hardware will handle any game old or new so bring on the suggestions

Looking for a new game too, sick to death of FPS, dont like games like WoW.. i think its time for me to get a cab and MAME it!

Ive been off PC games for a while now they became very predictable and boring IMO. Lately i have been telnetting to a few BBS's and reliving the good old days with a bit of LORD, BRE, etc. Im keen to get into a good PC game though so i'm also after suggestions too but i think a MAME cab will be the way to go

I have that but there are very australians and servers online.

I played the orignal GR online for 4 years before BF2, it was a great game.

Not an FPS...
An RPG which ain't WOW.
Try "Guild Wars"
Never thought i'd play an RPG but i don't mind playing this one from time to time.... mind you..it has WOW like charactristics and people have becoming addicted to it.

I Should Probably Try: Raven Sheild, Red Orchestra

FEAR: Combat was released free of charge to play online iirc, though i never could get sound happening in that game. retail nor free

WOW there's a blast from the past... I used to run a BBS ("The Eagle Zone" in northern NSW) back when a 28.8 modem was the shit (and theory was of course that the landlines couldnt take it any faster). I had LORD, BRE, etc... ah those were the days when things didnt change at a mile a minute.

I seem to get right into things until they become massively popular. i.e. I had a digital camera years before they were in phones/photography stores, I had an MP3 player well before the ipod was conceived, and I was a massive Quake player until the FPS/online/hack community evolved... I guess i just refused to grow up/become mainstream.

This is exactly why I built a mame cabinet - I like the simple things as they were built in the first place, not 'tweaked' to death. I really need to get off my ass and put up my website with the construction story and lessons learned of my cabinet project.

Give up and go play some arcade games...

There hasn't been a comp game that has entertained me about 2 years.

I used to play interbbs Falcons Eye and LORD. :D

Hi sairuk,

You going to update the UT servers game list shortly? It needs it.

what needs to be done? new maps? different mods? catch me on irc, let me know what you're after and i'll look into it. Currently building my own personal UT99 & Painkiller servers on my xbox under gentoox. #gt-u99 is too bloated for me =)

Onto the subject of BBS door games, usurper and lord were my poison. I did actually have a pcboard half running that was telnet accessible with plans to host door games and roms. in the background on my old cab setup at the start of 2006. May look at synchronet soon, as an option with telnet built in.

On the subject of BBSes again, this is a nice doco http://www.bbsdocumentary.com/. Released under the creative commons license. Would have been nice to go a bit more indepth on the subject matters but an interesting watch none the less, especially the episode on fidonet.

Yeah, I just mean some different maps....heaps of MH and not much action with CTF and DM's.

Sounds like you having some fun building new UT. does that mean anything for the current UT server? Will we be seeing a change soon?

Probably will be, not sure yet. just bought a house so not much time for such things atm. Will see how we go, dont get the house keys for another 3 weeks so i may be able to slot some time in to look at some maps. Did you ever receive the map set, 7 dvds or so of UT99 maps? Looking at compiling disc 8 currently, brackets keeps getting in my ear about finishing it and throwing it over to the uk. So will send you a copy if you like once done. All maps we use come from that set.

The ut server i'm building is my personal one. it will have a limited run map rotation (eventually) unlike the tomb server with 100s of maps and no MH. Just for lans/bot matches and to see how the xbox would stack up as a dedicated game server.

not sure what else i'll do with that yet. Contemplating grabbing another xbox and nuking the xbox install for a complete linux one. My current one is mainly for XBMC so linux is running from a 4gb image on the hdd which is additional resources lost.

see how it goes anyway. I have a plan to run some theme based rotations during 2k7 assuming time permits.

I'm moving myself shortly so I know what you mean. Congratulations on the purchase BTW. I never knew about the discs so count me in on a set please. Will PM details.

The xbox project sounds interesting. You won't have much time for it though in the next few weeks as the move hots up.
