Never played this, and after a quick go, I got hammered pretty quickly. I think by '85 I was in my first job and spending all my money on beer instead of video games :)

Really need to haul my cab inside, so I don't need to put on a beanie and gloves when I want to play it. Why doesn't the female of the species appreciate the timeless art that is a dirty great big upright Gottlieb Challenger cab enough, to allow it in the lounge room ? It's not that much to ask surely :D

I spent the first game trying to figure out why it would only shoot left (who'd have thought I needed to use other buttons for shooting, Doh)

Looks a few people have not played this one before.
One of the reasons I nominated is because it hardly ever gets any recognition , and I have found it a very enjoyable game in the past with a unique firing system and nice graphics for 1985.
Most people would of played commando but not this and its sometimes called the sequel <_<

Get them 6 shooters a blazing <insert western theme music:)>

edit: Almost forgot you get to ride a horse as well:laugh:

Plays a lot better once you remember to switch the joysticks back to 8 way.

Looking for some good western style music to play in the background. I love a good button thrashing but I'm not sure if my forearms can take more than a couple of games at a time - obviously out of practice.

I try to only fire when needed but thats just about all the time in the harder levels .

Music must of worked:)
Reached the Ninja boss for the first time couldn't hit him once , even when close :unsure

Reached the Ninja boss for the first time couldn't hit him once , even when close :unsure

When he's on the ground plug the bullets into him as fast as you can. It's hard to see, but when they hit they do make a little red dot. When you shoot him enough to take one of his energy bars he disappears in a puff of smoke.

Hope to improve on this a bit tomorrow, need a break now, it's a tiring game to play.
As DKong said go easy on the shooting when you can to conserve for the hectic areas.

edit
I just got soooo close to killing the Dynamite Boss, had him down to the last bar and shot him a couple more times then died. If I can make it past him it will be a PB and I will be happy :)

edit
GRRRRRR......getting up to Pig Joe Dynamite consistently on my first or second man, leaving me 5 chances to get him, but he is too quick. Twice now I have got him down to his last life bar, GRRRRRRRRR.

BTW DK, was a big Johnny Horton fan as a kid but one day when searching for his songs on Limewire I came accross one titled "I hate niggers". Had a listen & it was hate filled tripe, Deep South US at it's worst. Just can't listen to any of his other stuff with the same enthusiasm these days.

Back on topic I had a few games tonight, can't seem to get much beyond 100K at the moment but reckon it's starting to gel, will post a score in the next couple of days.

Out of curiosity, i just listened to that tune......its pretty hard core lyrics:o Nothing out of the ordinary for its time though, most "white folks" treated afro-americans like this in these times, if not worse. I can see why it put you off this artist though, not good karma:(

According to the all knowing Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clifford_Trahan this song is in fact from another Johnny Rebel. Sounds like a great representative of the deep south? Don't know how well he'd go about sing those lyrics nowadays.

Don't think I'm gonna do much better than this, too gung ho. Maybe I should play without (The Man Who Shot) Liberty Valance playing in the backround as inspiration (btw said song was also a movie staring non other than John Wayne, Lee Marvin & Jimmy Stewart, great flick).

A feeble performance :( I'm not much of a fan of the button-mashing games, so this one didn't have enough appeal to make me play it more than a few times... I can see it looks like a pretty decent game though.

I liked this one, the graphics are nice though I don't like how the cowboy seems to fly/glide about, needed something (maybe a head bobbing or different movement?) to make it feel like he was walking and I stand by my comment that this is a 1940-something game with a new coat of paint :D.

The difficulty level seems to go up a good bit in the third level. I got a couple of nice runs through the second level but got slapped around the bridges everytime I got near them.

Reminds me more of Ikara Warriors which I think used a twisty joystick for its direction of fire,
This game would of worked well with that setup and maybe played better.

Used to love Ikara warriors, but without the right joystick not really playable on MAME

Edit thought this game would of found a few more people liking it ,seemed to have lived up to its arcade rep, hard game maybe.

Oh well as Eddie says locked in now with the scores :)
