Well I've had this for just over 6 months and I'm just getting around to doing some restoration on it. I decided to strip her down yesterday - here are some photos of it.
My plans for the old gal are:

1) Base to be powder coated and legs to be re-chromed
2) Control Panel graphics to be copied and re-printed
3) Replace JAMMA wiring harness
3) Replace joysticks and push buttons
4) Replace glass top
5) Replace speakers
6) Re-condition monitor chassis and possibly replace monitor (has screen burns)

I've got my plate full already ... espcially on vector jobs... BUT .. if your really stuck, let me know. That ones simple .. so would only probably take one decent session too do.

IMO.. keep that baby original Rally-X set-up with the board. If not, at least keep that board. You'll never know. You may get another cab for multi set-up, and that one could be re-wired or an adpater made to suit the board.

Keep it as origional as possible, or limit it to mods which can be undone. You won't regret the decision.

Looking forward to more photo's :)

Thanks guys, you've changed my mind. I'm going to keep the original rally-x pcb.

I'll go ahead and put in the new jamma wiring harness so I can have a multi board but also get an adapter so I can connect the original board.

Is there anywhere that sells these adapters or should I just make one up?

Ask On here, I'm sure someone has one they would part with, or otherwise someone will be able to knock one up....

Progress Report

- The CPO artwork is done and ready to be sent to the printers. I've attached the files incase they are needed by anyone in the future. See zip file for .AI & .EPS

- Still looking for a place to do my powdercoating/chroming. Can anyone recommend a place around capalaba?

- Will be getting new glass next week. Re-doing my pinnie glass at the same time.

Looks great, a couple of questions for you,

1. What did your powder coating set you back?

2. What material did you get your CP Overlays done in?

Cheers,
Beau

Sandblasting & Powdercoating for the lot cost $198 inc. This was done by P&J Powder coatings (Link (http://www.powdercoating.com.au/)) at Tingalpa in Brisbane. Ask for Greg.

The CPO was done as a vinyl sticker and was then laminated to provide extra protection. This cost about $60 and was done by Havoc Print & Sign (Link (www.havocvs.com.au)) at Capalaba in Brisbane. Ask for Steve.

Both of these guys were extremely helpful and friendly to deal with! Big thumbs up from me :023:

Project Update:

Ok so the CP's are completed. Getting the overlays on was a real mission but got there in the end. I have put in new buttons and Sanwa Joysticks also. It's pretty much all finished except for the screen problem.. please see my post here (http://www.aussiearcade.com/showthread.php?t=27166)

Nice mate. Gr8 to see a dedicated restore (or close too it). So much better than Mame or multi's.. all though I am partial to both in certain circumstances.
(make sure I tip my hippocryt hat:D)
