View Full Version : Pattern/stencil making for lowboy 21 inch screen

I have a 21 inch monitor to go in to a lowboy cabinet. i have measured it and it will physically fit, and the current monitor in it is a 20 inch and the wooden surround would fit if i cut some out of it, but i think i will preserve it incase i find another 20 inch to replace it with.

Im quite happy to make a new wooden surround, but can anyone with more experience on this topic let me know the "secrets" to making the surround template.

The wooden surround currently is made from 5 ply and i can get a large piece from Bunnings for bugger-all.

I thought i should get some cardbox from a packing box and lay it over the monitor and cut round it with a stanley knife and when i have it fitting nice and snug use the cardboard as a template to mark the 5 ply with and then hook in to the 5 ply with my jigsaw.

Any better ideas?:unsure
