I am trying to put a top 25 must have machines list together, in order of factors including looks, sound, playability, nostalgia, resale values and importantly investment, (because i dont like superannuation )
Does anybody have any suggestions that a machine needs to be added, or removed due to major problems etc.

Also if you have one of these that is in almost perfect condition for sale, please let me know. Dealers etc please PM me.

The list was 20 before, but to hard to decide, even though ill be 100 before affording all these.

if all you want is DMD's then that would be ok. you could argue around the fringes but you would be better to play as many as you can and then pick the top 20 that you like the best. plenty of ppl hate TZ and others on that list...

As Stu said, if it is just DMD's, then the top 10 or so speak for themselves....it is the second half of the list that would come down to each individuals preference.

CC would be higher due to collectability, and also swap TAF for a gold edition.

I would have Corvette, JP, Dracula in there somewhere....though could change next week :D

Cool, I was thinking about dropping simpsons, LOTR and spider man being newer machines, but they keep coming up on various rankings pretty high,

I was hoping to maximize mixing both aspects, If I have say, a Cactus it wouldnt get played to often, thats why i got things like getaway in there for parties, friend kids etc. but still are liked for investment.

If you want them for the investment then add Baywatch, Hurricane and Popeye to the list. Delete Totan, AFM and TZ.

IMHO you should buy a machine because you enjoy playing it, not because it is on some 'list'

Don't buy a pinball for investment. Buy real estate instead. Not a bad time to buy too in most areas.

Buy pinball machines based on what you like about them. Not what others like. We are all different and sometimes it can be theme and art work, not gameplay that can determine whether someone wants that particular pinball machine.

Rare machines don't always mean they will command a high price. Low production numbers could have been because it was not a very exciting or interesting game at the time.

IPDB is a great resource as a Pinball database, though, the ratings aren't always a very accurate representation of the pinball. In part, due to how many ratings have been entered.

For most, DMD's have the most toys and entertainment value. Including reliability.

A true all round collection should have a bit of everything. A couple of EM's and Solid states thrown in for variety and fun for all ages and skill level.

Cheers,

Dan

Yeah Dan good advice, already got property and shares, just looking to spend cash from my paypal account. I think though the right pins will be a good investment in say 10+ years or so.

I dont think pins make or lose a lot of money.

Beats the shit out of putting your money in the bank though!

Yep atleast pins will go up with inflation, not like 3% interest in bank, then tax on that 3%, Lol

Funhouse for Monster Bash
TAF for corvette
and TZ for Demo Man

but thats only if we are talking DMD's. I'd drop more if you could inlcude early SS and EM's.

It's amazing how different people's tastes are, not one of those "replacement" pins (WH20, FH, Corvette, Demo Man) is in my Top Ten and yet the "replaced" pins (IJ, MB, TAF, TZ) are in my Top Ten.

Insta-collection!

I like your style.

Realistically though you need to actually play the things before running off to buy 10+ machines. No point having a machine that in your eyes moes well be a boat-anchor.

If you must have machines based on 'investment' (I hate it when people use this word to describe a pin purchase) purposes, you need to buy things that are collectible and scarce. Some of the machines that are at the top of the lists happen to be extremely common, and if the market for pins dropped out, they'd be some of the first machines to lose value (think TZ, TAF).

one other thing i'd say is get them one at a time and enjoy each new addition. i got demo man as my first pin and played it for a year before i got the second one. getting 10 in one hit you'll maybe find you don't really get deep into any of them. its kind of like going on 10 holidays in a row, the gloss comes off after the first couple IMHO anyway.

Your first is always your best :). Just be steady on your first purchase, don't go full on into the latest must have pinball and spends lots because it has a DMD. Pinball is really about the two flippers at the bottom.
There are a lot of games out there just needing a player and some TLC, system 11 Williams pinballs are under priced IMO

I have seen perfect machines like Dracula and Demo Man get scrapped.
Spare parts to some... I'm sure Fishtales should be at the top of the list. Some of the new pinnys are good playing machines too. I reckon the stern indiana is a great machine. Spiderman is pretty good too.
