Applied the CP overlay this morning wilth little deliberation ater getting the CP back from the powder coaters yesterday.. AK called over and was pretty keen to see the 'process'..

Really simple:

Wipe down the CP
Mix half a cup of water with small squirt of detergent into a squeeqy bottle and shake
Spray a light coating of above mixture over the control panel
Peel backing paper off the overlay
Apply overlay to the CP and carefully slide to its best location
Carefully squeege and excess moisture from under the CP..
- I used a plaster spatch but it was a little rough -recommend proper rubber squeege - We wanted it done quick, and it was close to hand..
Stand back, admire and take a picture

Process time - less than 5 minutes.

Nice work WOKA, how did you re-create the artwork ?

I cheated, I bought an overlay via Ebay. I have the AI file, but thought it quicker to buy the overlay.

Very nice.
Is it the angle of the flash or the colours on the new overlay look more washed out than the original?

very nice

Does powdercoating have enough durability for the area surrounding the inlay?

Powdercoating will be better than pretty much anything - very hard wearing !

HAving the CP only powdercoated would be pretty uncomfortable though with the cold etc wouldnt it?

Yup, it's just a like paint, but in powder form and baked on (I used to be a powder coater)
Very schmick finish and you can get a BUNCH of different colours and finishes like hammertone, satin, matte and the like.

Looks good Woka.
I have been sandblasting powder coat off my coin door this morning, hard shit to get off, is far stronger than paint.
